Opalescent squid
Latin Name:	Loligo opalescens
Geographic Range:	Range is southern Alaska to Baja but this animal is palagic.
SCUBA Divers Info:
A rare but wonderful site this is the squid of Calamari fame, often rather than the animal their eggs or 'squid candles' white tubes about 3 inches long are a more likely find.
Beachwalkers Info:
This animal does not inhabit the intertidal zone so you are very unlikely to find it beachwalking or tidepooling.
