| Veiled chiton |
  |
| Latin Name: |
Placiphorella rufa |
| Geographic Range: |
I don't have any range information on this animal. |
| SCUBA Divers Info: |
| The only carnivorous chiton that I know of this chiton uses it's large frontal veil as a trap. It will sit with the veil raised up and wait for a small animal to swim under it, at which point the veil drops and the prey is caught. It seems to perfer areas with some current. (note: I originally had the wrong latin name for this chiton) |
Beachwalkers Info: |
| This animal does not inhabit the intertidal zone so you are very unlikely to find it beachwalking or tidepooling. |
| Mollusk |
