Sebastes ruberrimus |
| Geographic Range: |
Range is from Alaska to Baja. |
| SCUBA Divers Info: |
| Always a find, the adult Yelloweye spends the vast majority of its time below diveable depths. The young are found shallow and as they age they move deeper. The young are also very different looking. Juveniles are deep red almost black with bright white to yellow longitudinal stripes. As the fish gets older the colour lightens and the stripes disappear. The photo is of a sub adult the mature adult would be all red/orange with of course a yellow eye. |
Beachwalkers Info: |
| This animal does not inhabit the intertidal zone so you are very unlikely to find it beachwalking or tidepooling. |
