This dive was a drift dive. We had to pass through Skookumchuck Rapids on the way home and that is best done at slack so the dive had to have a bit of current which made for a nice drift (for those of you who don't know Skookumchuck Rapids has max currents up to 18 knots!).
This was quite a nice dive that I would like to return and try on true slack so that I could look at some of the smaller stuff. We still saw lots as we drifted by however. We saw a big tiger rockfish and a nice grunt sculpin along with a great selection of sea stars. From the nudibranch family we saw dendronotus dali a species that seem to be reasonable common in that area, (I've never seen it anywhere else) we also saw a large number of bubble shells something don't see all that often. All in all a fun drift that we finished off by playing in the bull kelp, in my opinion it is easiest to play in the kelp when there is a bit of current that way it is all at least going the same way. A fun time. |
