Day two of our dive trip and a day of wall diving, what could be better? I've dove this spot before and enjoyed it so I looked forward to going back. This time we dove it in the opposite direction from my previous dive there. That made for a totally different dive that before, since we reversed the deep and shallow sections of the dive. It was of course still great, not much beats pushing off over a underwater cliff and floating down into black.
The wall on this dive was often covered in transparent tunicates which gave it a glass like look. There were also big sponges and lots of feather stars. Another interesting sight on this dive were yellow-eye rockfish, these fellows seem common in this area but i was very surprised to see a juvinile as shallow as 30 feet (normally i only see these below 80). The visibility on this dive was great and that just added to the fun of a wall dive. I'm not really sure which direction I perfer to dive this site from both offer their own seperate species depending on which end of the wall you make the deep part of your dive. Oh well I can live with that indecision. |
