Organization is the key to any good archive, but then again, simply having an archive in any form is better than nothing. So you're on the right track.

Just considering the cost of the media you already own, having an archive on CD-R could put your mind at ease. Make a back-up for a saftey deposit box perhaps, or create your own archive of game/shareware picks, or?
