	Security
	CCleaner is a freeware system optimization, privacy and cleaning tool. It removes unused files from your system - allowing Windows to run faster and freeing up valuable hard disk space. It also cleans traces of your online activities such as your Internet history. Additionally it contains a fully featured registry cleaner. But the best part is that it's fast (normally taking less than a second to run) and contains NO Spyware or Adware!

	Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware is an anti-malware application that can thoroughly remove even the most advanced malware. It includes a number of features, including a built in protection monitor that blocks malicious processes before they even start.
NOTES:	I would recommend all three security applications. I use CCleaner most often because of its speed. Advanced SystemCare takes a little longer but has a few more bells and whistles. Malwarebytes is excellent for major problems and I would recommend getting it before trouble starts.
	Useful Freeware
	Mozilla Firefox is a fast, full-featured Web browser. Firefox includes pop-up blocking; tab-browsing; integrated Google search; simplified privacy controls; a streamlined browser window that shows you more of the page than any other browser; and a number of additional features that work with you to help you get the most out of your time online.
	OpenOffice.org is a multiplatform office productivity suite. It includes desktop applications such as a word processor, a spreadsheet program, a presentation manager, and a drawing program, with a user interface and feature set similar to those of other office suites.
	IrfanView is a fast and compact image viewer/converter. It is trying to be simple for beginners and powerful for professionals. Many supported file formats and features.
	Paint.NET is free image and photo editing software. It features an intuitive and innovative user interface with support for layers, unlimited undo, special effects, and a wide variety of useful and powerful tools.
	Windows Media Player 11 for Windows XP offers great new ways to store and enjoy all your music, video, pictures, and recorded TV. Play it, view it, and sync it to a portable device for enjoying on the go or even share with devices around your home all from one place.
	DivX for Windows includes the DivX Codec, the DivX Player, the DivX Web Player and the Stage6 Content Uploader Utility. The DivX Player plays all AVI and .divx files that contain DivX video and MP3 audio including rented and purchased DivX content. The DivX Codec extends DivX playback support to all popular media players.
	Skype is software that enables you to make free calls anywhere in the world. Skype uses innovative P2P (peer-to-peer) technology to connect you with other users. It offers several features, including SkypeOut calling from Skype to regular and mobile phones worldwide, conference calling, video calling and secure file transferring. Skype calls have better sound quality than your regular phone and are highly secure, with end-to-end encryption.

	Helpful Websites
	Google is the most popular search engines on the net. Search by subject, topic, images, local, maps, news, and videos. They also offer a range of free applications as with Google Earth. In addition they have their own free web mail, Gmail.
	Wikipedia is a Web-based, free-content encyclopedia project. Wikipedia's articles provide links to guide the user to related pages with additional information. Wikipedia is written collaboratively by volunteers from all around the world; anyone can edit it.
	The Merriam-Webster Online Dictionary is based on the print version of Merriam-Webster's Collegiate® Dictionary, Eleventh Edition. It also provides a Thesaurus, Medical Dictionary and Spanish/English translator.
	CNET is the premier destination for tech product reviews, news and price comparisons, free software downloads, daily videos, and podcasts.
	Craigslist provides local classifieds and forums for jobs, housing, for sale, personals, services, local community, and events.

	Free Commercial Online Television
	All comedy, of all kinds, 24-hours-a-day, is the mandate of The Comedy Network, Canada's first-and-only specialty comedy service.

	Global TV offers unique and exclusive information on news and entertainment, Full episodes for select priority programs including Survivor, House, 24 & Heroes are available for viewing online.
	CTV is Canada's largest privately owned network and has consistently placed as Canada's top-rated network in total viewers and in key demographics.
	Pirate Television and Movies
NOTES:	Almost anything you see on television or at the movies can now be viewed online. Most U.S. stations carry their programming online, however it isn't accessible for Canadians. So when looking for programs don't bother with the U.S. network sites, AOL or Hula if you are in Canada. Avoid sites that require membership or that load software on to your computer. One to be very careful about is Zango. DO NOT download this software it will mess up your system. In most cases you can still access the material by hitting cancel on the Zango screen and then hitting OK on the next confirmation screen. Megavideo has great quality video content but they limit your viewing time. So unless you want to risk watching three quarters of a program and then having a screen tell you that you have to wait 54 minutes to watch the rest don't bother with Megavideo (too bad). Some sites work better with Firefox than Internet Explorer.
	OVGuide is an excellent online video portal and search engine to the best free movies, videos, tv shows, video games and all other video content on the web.
	Ninja Video has good quality television and movies. It uses NinjaVideo Helper. This program opens a small window, that must be kept open during your session, but it is safe.
	Watch Media is another good site for TV and Movies. They regularly upload the latest television and movies. This is one of my favourites.
	Videostic has a good selection of TV and Movies. They are brag that they have added almost all the episodes for most of the series.
	Watch-Movies is site with a lot of newer movies - alphabetized for easy navigation. They have their links rated so that you can avoid wasting time with dead or slow links.
	TV Shack claims to have bypassed the Megavideo time limit. If true, this would be a site to check out. Megavideo does have excellent quality.
	Project - Free TV provides many links for television and movies. They also rates the links by loading speed.
NOTES:	Movies vary quite a bit in quality. If the movie is new and hasn't come out in DVD yet, expect it to be of poorer quality. These movies are usually recorded on a lap camera, may not be well centered on the screen, jerky in parts, have extra voices and sounds, and are grainy and dark. When the movies are released for home the quality is usually good to excellent.
	Television programs tend to be quite current, sometimes you can watch a new episode before it is broadcast on the west coast. You can usually find good quality videos. They are shown commercial free.
	Online Sports
NOTES:	Watch live sports programming from around the world. See Canucks games that are blacked out on regular television. Watch other NHL, NFL, MLB and soccer games not being broadcast in your area. Initially you may notice that the action is a bit jerky, usually it improves after a minute or so.
	ATDHE Net has a great selection of live sports and recently aired television programs. It's a good place to start looking for the game you want to watch.
	Justin TV is a very good site for watching live sports. It doesn't require loading additional software for viewing its content.
	MyP2P is a peer-to-peer system, like Justin TV. The programming is better organized than Justin TV, but some of its content requires downloading software.
	Sopcast is only program that I have downloaded for viewing sports on MyP2P. It has good quality and appears to be safe. This link connects to their site for downloading their software.
