I was fortunate enough to have John to myself over a round of golf at the Shannon Lake in Kelowna last summer, while "Patty" had time to visit colleagues that day.
We played 9 holes - cart, beer and all - followed by a beer at the clubhouse afterwards. You would not even think he was ill. After one beer I was thinking it was time for him to go back the Pat and Andy's to rest, but NO, the waitress came around and John pipes up "we'll have another round" - so we did. He was such a trooper! He had the wonderful ability to make you laugh and had that infectious little giggle (that Patty - my dear, dear friend also has).
I live in Westbank, so now whenever I see the sign for the Shannon Lake Golf Course, I think of our wonderful time in the sun, swearing and giggling over a golf-shot gone bad, followed by a few "brew" - a hug good-bye and a hardy wave as our cars left the course ...
He said he would be back this summer, so now, I will play another round this summer and John will be the sun shining down on me and his love for Patty and all golf courses.
CHEERS JOHN!!!!
