Sue Erikson

Oh Susannah

There's a ghost in the corner
With a cold glass of beer
And she looks a little lost
Waiting for her date to appear.

She remembers a day
When a draft was a dime
An easier, simpler,
gentler time.

When the sun came up
And went down in the west
You may have heard the worst
But you believed the best.

And I'll bet she's had a life
You can see it in her eyes
As she downs her glass
And makes her goodbyes.

For my friend Sue,
