"OLAM's CD FOREIGN DREAMS is the most musically rich, creative and fun world-beat release I've heard in ages." (Chris Wong, Vancouver Courier)

Energetic, passionate and playful, oLaM's music is at once accessible and exotic. Groove to a fusion of old and new, East and West. oLaM's unique sound allows the band to cross all cultural and age barriers, and to appeal to a wide range of listeners. To date, no audience has been able to resist dancing to its classic world-beat tunes that combine jazz, salsa, bossa-nova, merengue, be-bop, rap and reggae. The band features the haunting vocals of Sylvia Zaradic, the virtuoso clarinet/sax of Jazz veteran Mike Braverman, and the hot accordion of Moshe Renert.   English lyrics are by Kico Gonzalez-Risso.

The release of oLaM's first CD FOREIGN DREAMS marks the band's emergence onto the World Music scene. Produced and mixed by award winners Kevin Hamilton (Moist) and Shawn Pierce (Metalwood), FOREIGN DREAMS contains four cross-over singles to be released to Pop, Top 40, Jazz, Easy Listening, Latin and World radio stations. Hava Nagila ('98 Mix) is a rap version that's sure to become an instant party hit; Foreign Men features audacious, suggestive lyrics over an ethnic funk melody line;. Carnations is a trance-like exotic song based on a haunting Croatian folk tune; Old Merengue features sexy English-Spanish lyrics over hot Hasidic-Latin beats.

After a sell-out concert at Vancouver's Norman Rothstein Theatre to launch its long-awaited first CD, FOREIGN DREAMS, (nominated for Best World Music CD as well as Best Folk/Roots Cd at the 1999 West Coast Music Awards), oLaMis looking forward to its upcoming B.C. tour this summer.
