The Boating Course-----Starts September 14, 2009 (13 weeks)

This course provides a general introduction to the safe handling of boats of all types, and is the prerequisite to all advanced and
elective CPS courses. Once successfully completed, membership in CPS is available to the applicant. The Boating course
includes an exam for your Coast Guard Pleasure Craft Operator's Certificate
Length of the Course: Mondays (1900-2200), beginning Sept.14 (13 wks)

Boat Pro ---------Starts October 5 , 2009 (3 weeks)

This is an abbreviated version of the Basic Boating Course. Held over three evenings, this course will qualify you for a Canadian
Coast Guard Pleasure Craft Opertor Card. This course is open to the public, and contains no plotting or chart work. The
successful completion of this course will not qualify you for membership in CPS; however, you may wish to consider taking the
Basic Boating course also.
Length of Course: Mondays (1900-2200), beginning Oct. 5 (3 weeks)

Maritime Radio -------Starts October 29 , 2009 (3 weeks)

In three evenings you’ll learn how to use your VHF radio properly. This course includes the exam that will give you the license
required to operate a VHF radio legally and is good for life. This is a comprehensive theoretical and simulated practical course
culminating in the Communications Canada restricted (VHF) exam.
Length of Course: Thursdays (1900-2200), beginning Oct. 29 (3 weeks)
