Bow Habitat Sation is a unique "eco-park" located along the Bow River in the community of Inglewood in Calgary. It is comprised of three major components:

· The Sam Livingston Fish Hatchery - the largest indoor trout hatchery of its kind in North America. Operating since 1973, it produces 2 to 3 million fish annually to stock 300 Alberta water bodies;

· The 14.6 hectare Pearce Estate Park Interpretive Wetland (PEPIW), an "outdoor classroom" showcasing aquatic habitats common to Alberta and the species that live in them, with interpretive trails, signs and student wetland sampling sites;

· A 13,000 square foot visitor centre with hands-on exhibits, a theatre, discovery room, classrooms, gift shop and food services to be opened in spring 2006.

Bow Habitat Sation offers staff-led, curriculum-based, hands-on education programs about wetlands, aquatic ecology, water conservation, habitat protection, fish life cycles and stewardship of Alberta's natural resources. Programs are offered on site using student sampling locations in PEPIW, with some programs available to be presented in your classroom. Additional programs will be offered at the facility once the visitor centre is complete in spring of 2006.
