Kirby Road Farm

Len and Joan Lightfoot

Courtenay, BC, Canada

Yes, the farm is for sale.  Twenty years ago we made the decision to leave our jobs in the city to fulfill Len's dream to go farming, we have done that, and have no regrets.  It is now time to take it easy and let someone else with more enthusiasm and energy take over.  If you are one of these enthusiastic and energetic people, you can contact our realtor, Ron Shann, who is a farm specialist.

In the meantime, we will be continuing our tomato plant sales this spring, and maintain and harvest the hay fields for as long as we own the farm.

About the farm:

Our 25 1/2 acres is located north of Courtenay in the beautiful Comox Valley on Vancouver Island.  We have about 12 acres planted to hay, three woodlots, and the farm and garden site.

Our six greenhouses cover a total of over 12,000 sq. ft.  Two of the greenhouses are 70' x 30', three are 70' x 32', and the sixth house is 35' x 32'.  The smaller house can be heated from an oil-fired hot water furnace, but we have chosen not to fill the tank this year.

We  would like to thank all the vendors and customers who have become our friends at the Comox Valley Farmers' Market, especially for putting up with Len, and we will continue to see you at the market, if not as vendors, we will be there as customers.
