A couple of good opportunities in April, 2012 inclued a Redtailed Hawk, Merlin Hawk with dinner and a male Kestrel Hawk.

Some January Raptors that that I got.

Lots happening December 28th
My birding mentor, Rick, took me out on a search for a Hawk Owl that was reported south of Kamloops and on our way out there we spotted two Rough Legged Hawks and got some great photos of them in their natural environment. We trekked in for about 1/2 km or so and were fortunate enough to spot the Hawk Owl, which is seldom seen at lower elevations, and get some nice photos to share with you. It is always nice when the subjects co-operate so nicely. A quality day to say the very least.
The Hawk Owl keeping an eye on us, sometimes two.

Roughie checking things out from his vantage perch.
Light colored phase Rough legged hawk, one just dropping his landing gear.
Dark colored phase Rough Legged Hawk. Rough legged hawk hunting for a meal.

Rough Legged Hawk on a fence post and on the ground.
Here is a juvenile Bald Eagle with a deer's leg. There are also lots of birds in the "raptor" category in this area including Harlan's Hawk, Rough legged owls, Barn Owls, Turkey Vultures, Saw-whet owls, Pygmy Owls, Ospreys, Kestral Hawks, Redtailed Hawks, Cooper's Hawks, Eagles, Great Horned Owls and others. Still many more to find.
