August the 30th 1656 (40) The last will & testament of John Oats in manner & form following. First I bequeathed my soule into the hands of Almightie God & my body to Christian burial. Itt, I leave to my brother David Oats my best suite of aparrell. Itt, I leave to my father & brother Willm Oates the rest of my cloathinge if it pleases ym to accept of it. Itt, I leave to Callaughwoney Cawlaw as much cloath as will make her a weskett. Itt, I constitute & ordaine my sister Jony Oats Executrix of all the rest of my goods moveable & unmoveable. Witnesses John Huddleston juratus & John Gremsey to be sworn at next Court, and The Exec also. Subpoena 16s. Probat et Solvit 14d. Note ye he said yt there was noe goods but 3s 8d which he left for his buryinge. Pledges: John Grensley
