Rowland wrote his will himself in its entirety.


December the first 1658
The last will and testament of Rowland Stanley.  
First I bequeath my soule to the hands of my 
Creator and Redeemer, and my bodie to Christian burial.  
Item, I leave the three beast that are there (viz): 
the in-calfe cowe and one of the other two, 
to my brother Garrett and my sister Jane.  
And the other cowe to be bestowed upon my burial 
and funeral xxxx.  
Item, I leave to my brother Thomas my bootes, 
and a coate that little Thomas hath in makinge.  
Item, I leave to my brother George the sword that 
he hath in his owne hands and the belt.  
Item, I leave to my cozen Charles my gun & bag.  
Item, I leave to my brother Garrett my oxe at 
Ballacuden.  
Item, I leave my brother Ned the five shillings 
for cot[?] work of the oxe, and my bufe coate.  
Item, I leave to my  brother Key and his wife 
the elaven shillings in ther owne hands.  
Item, I leave to my cozen Willm Garrett five shillings.  
Item, I leave to my cozen Jane Key my trunke.  
Item, I leave to my cozen Tho: Nicholson my 
clothes & 2 pare of stockings.  
Item, I leave my cozen Roger the dublett 
within the trunke.  
Item, I leave to John Cubon two shillings & 
one pare of stockings.  
Item, I leave to my sister Jane the feather 
bed and clothes.  
Item, I leave to my brother Will:  
what remaines in his owne hands.  
Item, I leave amongst my brother Garretts 
servants two shillings six pence.  
Item, I leave my cozen Charles my cast 
of instruments & my vasthange[?] bole[?].  
Item, I leave to my cozen Nanssie[?] a 
box to keep lyrin[?].  
Item, I doe constitude, ordaine, & 
appointe my brother Willm Stanley my 
executor of all my goods movable and 
unmoveable.

27th June 1660: The exec sworne.  
Probat et Solvit 8d.            

Invent:  3 pounds besides what is included in ye will.  
Pledges to secure the office: Jo: Garret 
& Jo: Key according to Law.                    

Xx 9bris 1659: 
David Murrey entereth his clame against ye exec 
of Rowland Stanley for ye summe of 12s 7d, 
and craveth tryall accordinge to Law.          

Robt Fargher entereth his clame against ye sd 
exec for 10s 6d and craveth the Law.        

23 June 1660
Anthony Halsall entereth his clame against ye 
exec of Rowland Stanley for 8s & craveth ye Law.”
