Bride
Henry Oates departed this life about
ye 25th of December intestate and ye
next of kindred being several times cited
to this Court to prove his will xxx any
were and now was exhibited till this
instant day Jo: Quittye exhibited a
certificate under the hand of Sr Jo:
Huddlestone & Jo: Cotter where it is
certified that ye sd Henry Oates declared
upon his death bed yt he had xxx given
a bargaine of his goods to ye sd Jo: Quiddy
and desired yt ye same might stand but
forasmuch as ye witnesses have not appeared
to prove ye sd Certifycate, neither doth
ye sd bargain appeare proved before the
Deemster according to Law xxxxx standing
severall Court time given to that purpose
And forasmuch likewise it appears yt David
Oates son of Hen: Oates xxx not 6d nor ye
value thereof by way of legasie, Therefore
it is thought fitt and so decreed that ye
sd David Oates & sister Jony Oates als
Quiddye shall be his joint Administrators
who are sworn 15 8bris 1659.
Salvo tamer vuincing suo jure
Decretum est et Solvit.
Invent within 14 days subpoena 10s,
and that ye same may be perfected accordingly
Authoritye is granted to ye Administrators
to impanel a jury of honest men to find out
in what hands ye goods are, There is further
time given xxxx by reason of an appeale to
ye goods. Xxxx amounts to 4 pounds 4 shillings 0 pence.
[Pledges] Mich: Crosse & Wm xxxxxx accordinge to Law
[Whereas] you have in ye Court decreed David Oats
& Jony Oats Administrators of ye father Henry
Oats, I appeale therefore from your sensure to
the honorable governor of ys Isle:
8ber 16the 17th 1659. [signed] John Quiddye.

Jo: Cuddye entereth his claime against ye Administr
of Hen. Oates for 31s 3d sterling and craveth ye Law.
