I John Moore of Ballaforth being weake 
in bodie but of perfect memorie praysed 
be God, doe make this my last will and 
testament in manner & forme following 
this xiii-th day of February 1663.  
First, I doe bequeath my soul into the 
hands of Almightie God and my bodie to 
Christian burial.  I leave to my loving 
wife Margaret Moore alias Oates all my 
land and children for ten years & do 
constitute my 2 children John & Robert 
Moore my true and lawful Executors of 
all my worldly goods moveable and 
unmoveable whasoever.  
Item, I leave Thomas Woods senior and 
Thomas Kinley overseers of my said children.  
This is the last will and testament of 
John Moore.  I leave my 2 brothers Martin 
& William Moore 6d legacy apiece.   
Witnesses hereof: 
Robt Brew, 
Tho: Kinely, 
Jo: Oates, jurati.            
The Supervisors sworn in Court and the mother 
also to bring in a perfect Inventory.  
Solvo lamen vincing suo jure.  P
robated et solvit, 6d.            
The Inventorie of John Moore priced by 
4 sworn men Tho: Qua Ballanilley[?], 
John Bridson Rogane, John Moore Ballaforth, 
& Robt Hanton.  
The good priced on oath hath mounted the 
halfe to xxx-s[30x].  
The debt due to his brothers and to others 
as is well knowne is xl-s.  This Inventory 
is to be perfected at or before Michaelmass 
xxxx the crop of corne & what else may be 
gotten sub poena 2s ad xxx xxxxxx.  
Half stuff goods for the children, half 
the crop of corn prized to 25s & the 30s 
above said as the mother justifies.  
Pledges secunda forma legis: 
Rob: Brew & John Oates, & she also bound 
to secure them.          
argaret Oates paid the 2 brothers above 
mentioned vizt., William Moore 2 cows and 10s 
in money at his going for Ireland.  
So that the whole sum of 30s and crop of 
corn 25 is due to the children.          

December 19, 1675: 
John Moore have this day acknowledged himself 
to be fully satisfied and paid by Ro:Brew & 
John Oates all such goods as in any wise fell 
due to him by the death of his father John 
Moore and his brother Robert Moore and doth 
acquit and discharge the pledges as appears 
by a note under his hand, John Moore his mark M.          

I John Moore of the parish of Kk St Anne do 
confess myself fully satisfied and paid from 
the hands of Robert Brew and John Oates which 
is bound in the Spiritual Books for all the 
said goods which was due to me, I confessed 
to have received and to witness this to be 
my act and deed I have caused the same to be 
written this 19th of December 1675, 
ohn Moore my hand and Mark X.  
The goods were[?] due unto me by the death of 
my father which I confess to be paid in all 
and every part and free the bondmen.
