Andreas Novr ye 7th 1685
This is affirmed to be last will & testament of John Brew who
being in pfect memory committed his soul to God & body to Xtian
buriall It. to ye poor at ye discretion of s Execr. It. he left
to his Son Willm Brew his pt of the gears & necessary’s belonging
to s? . & a Heiffer, provided yt if the sd Heiffer proves to be in
calf that the milk is to be in the farm till Hallowtide next
and his part of the sheep at May. It. to his grandchild Bessy a brood Goose?
It. to James Tears son John a sheep. It. to James Tear the gears be=
longing to husbandry. It. he left that his above son Willm should stay in
the house till hallowtide next. It. he declared there was 15s due
from Jon Brew his brother for ye time he had pt of ye farm where
he abated him 5s if he pd the rest quickly. It. he acknowledged
to be indebted to Willm Cleater 10s & to widow Cowle 12s. It. he
acknowledged that his brother Philip had a parcell in land given him in lieu
of 20s [inserted] …? y rent being 6s a year is unsatisfied..
and yt if he was not satisfied with the sd land for his money
yt he might take ye benefit of yr law for yr same. & lastly constituted &
ordained his loveing wife Sole Execr of all the rest of his goods moveable
& unmoveable. It. to ye witnesses 6d apiece.
