the last will and testamt of Phillp Cannell who departed
this life the 19th of December 1685.
First he bequeathed his soule to god and his
bodie to Christian burial.
Item, he left to his wife Evericke Cannell one
great chist, one barrel one churne one gridle
the flaxen wheele with all the flax and tow as legasie.
Itm, he left to his nephew Adam Cannell a
yearelinge hoge and a lambe.
Itm, to Christian Cannell one sheep.
Itm he left to his brother John Cannell out
of the whole with his wives consent a mair
and a colt & two sheep to discharge forever
all debts and fenerall charges.
Itm he maid mencon yt what goods fell due to
him by the death of his father was in the handes
of his brother John Cannell except a quarter
of the crop of corne and halfe of a cowe wch
he was satisfied in; the rest be kind to
returne to his child as well the mothers pte
as his and this was don with the mothers consent.
Itm he constituted and appointed his onely child
Katherin Cannell his lawfull Executrix of all
the rest of his goods moveable and unmoveable.
And further he left in regard that his wife
refused to keep the child; that the sd child
should return wher it ought with the goods,
but if the mother kept the child herself that
then if ye child dyed under age that halfe the
goods shud be her own.

Novr 12th 1687:
The wife of Phil: Cannell, & ye widow of Jo: Cannell
ye Supervisor of ye sd Philips child, came this day
& have accounted for what goods is in their hands,
and upon ye paymt of 6s made by ye Suprvr widow to
ye childs mother, with other reckenings & disbursemts
the sd women are equall in all ye goods & chattels &
effects belonging to ye foresd child, save only ye
chest & linsey Woolsey wch is in ye mothers hands, &
ye shoes in Ad: Cannells hands who are to be -----[dark edge]
for ye same as the Court shall order it: & this to be a finall -----[dark edge]

This day John Cottiman husband to the within Philip Cannel’s
Execr came to ye Records, and does acknowledge to have recd
all that was due unto his wife by ye death of her father P
hilip Cannel from hir step father Wm Steane & Philip Cannell
& John Cannell son to John Cannell decease
Octr 5th 1710:
This day John Cottiman husband to ye within Philip Cannels Execr
came to ye Records, & acknowledgeth that he is fully paid &
satisfy’d for all ye goods & effect yt were due unto his wife
by ye death of her father & Grandfather, from Wm Steene, Philip
Cannel, & John Cannel; except ye linsey Woolsey & half ye chest
due from the mother wch is left to ye determination of ye Aunt;
and two shillings & four pence unpaid as yet from John Tagaard.
As witness his mark, John Cottiman his mark JC.
In presence of Charles Watleworth Regr.
July 11, 1713:
This day John Cottiman came to ye Records & acknowledges that
he has recd the above two shillings & four pence due form John
Taggard & acquit him and all other persons for ye same.
