Maughold
This is affirmed to be ye last Will & Testamt of Jo. Corteen who departed this life ye
second of February Ano 1687. Imprs He comitted his soul to god, and his body to christian
buryall.It He proposed to his sone Gilbert whether he would undertake ye care of
his aged and decrepid sister Margt Corteene, & his said sone replyed yt he had looked to
her ere then, & would alsoe for ye future take care of her: upon this resolve he
bequeathed to his said sone his part of ye teame & Crop of Corne, with all imple[ments]
and husbandry gears therin his occupation: It He bequeathed to his sone Will: four
yeards of gray woollen Cloath, and twenty shillings in mony. It To his Grandchild
Robt one sheep & yearlinge. It To Jo: Ceanish one yearlinge. It To Alice Brew
ye cropt horned Heffer. It To Uxor Jo: Kerrish att ye Milne a firlad or three
half firlads of Barley, as his sone Gilbert would be pleased to give her. It To the
witnesses (of this his last will) one mutten betwixt ym. It He said yt ye tyth Corne
was not paid for: however ye Corne was to ye fore for ye purpose. It He consti
tuted his 3 sones viz: Gilbert, Will & Tho: Corteene his Lawfull Executors of
all ye rest of his goods and chattles.
