This is affirmed to be the last will and testament of 
JOHN KIRMEEN who departed this life about the 7 of 
November 1695. 
Imprimis, he committed his soul to God and his body 
to Christian burial. 
Item, he bequeathed to JOHN CALLOW Balneskegg & HIS 
SON WILLIAM his riding horse, bridle and saddle 
equally betwixt them. 
Item, to the said WILL a sheep of two years old. 
Item, to HIS BROTHER'S EDWARD, JOHN, ROBERT, & 
JANE CALLOW one sheep and a lamb apiece. 
Item, to ANN CALLOW a choice blanket & a sheep. 
And to HER DAUGHTER MARY the next choice blanket 
and one sheep. 
Item, to WILLIAM KIRMEEN SENIOR half one ox in his 
own custody and his mare and colt. 
Item, to HIS SON WILLIAM twenty shillings to put 
him to a trade, and the said twenty shillings to 
be left in JOHN Balneskegg's hands till the boy 
was so disposed of. 
Item, to JOHN KIRMEEN HIS BROTHER twelve shillings 
and four sheep in CHRISTIAN Ballafayle's fold. 
Item, to MARGARET COTON & ELIZABETH COWLE one sheep 
for next Christmas. 
Item, to DANIEL KERRISH, MARGARET CORTEEN, PHILIP 
HAGG, & MARGARET CALLOW one sheep betwixt them for 
next Christmas. 
Item, to WILLIAM COWLE one lamb. 
Item, to his SISTER ELIZABETH COWLE one shilling 
towards buying her a pair of shoes. 
Item, to EDWARD CHRISTIAN Balterson a choice mutton. 
Item, he constituted and appointed the THREE DAUGHTERS 
OF ARTHUR QUAYLE, and the THREE YOUNGEST CHILDREN OF 
WILLIAM KIRMEEN his lawful Executors of all the rest 
of his goods and chattels. 
Due to the Decedent as he declared in our hearing: 
Imprimis, from WILLIAM CEANISH (pd to Supervisor) 1 pound 0 shilling 0 pence;

A CODICIL
HE FURTHER DELCARED the day following that it was his 
will that the THREE DAUGHTERS OF ARTHUR QUAYLE should 
live as they were in Balneskegg & to have his quarter 
of the crop of corn to maintain them till our Lady day 
next in March, and to spend the straw on the cattle. 
Item, he said that JOHN QUAY owed him (pd to the Supervisor's wife) 0:1:10;

The Executors being underage, THOMAS QUAYLE AND JOHN CALLOW 
are sworn supervisors of ARTHUR QUAYLE'S, CHILDREN, & 
WILLIAM KERMEEN sworn Supervisor over his own CHILDREN 
according to Law. The Inventory to be brought in within a month.

THE INVENTORY OF ARTHUR QUAYLE prized by 4 sworn men, &c.: 
Due to the HEIR in the goods left to him 2 pounds 3 shilling 6 pence; 
The corn added 1:0:0; 
The Executors (viz, the 3 DAUGHTERS) part 3:2:6. 
The goods in the hands of the Supervisors, viz., 
THOMAS & MARY QUAYLE, THE UNCLE AND AUNT, who have given in 
pledges in form of law: John Kelly for Thomas Quayle, &c. 

20TH JUN 1692
THOMAS QUAYLE hath delivered that part of the above Inventory 
which was in his hands unto JOHN KIRMEEN, who hath given pledges 
for the same, Richard Cottiam & John Taggart, and the said 
Thomas Quayle and his pledge is discharged. 

THE INVENTORY OF THE GOODS of JOHN KERMEEN deceased prised by 
4 men, viz., Christopher Christian, John Taggart, John Karran, 
David Joughin[?], the 9th of November 1695: 
3 old barrels and a old chest 0 pounds xx shillings 6 pence; 
A new ocat and two pair of new breeches 0:5:6; 
2 old coats, a pair of old breeches, a waistcoat 
& old cap and a pair of stocking 0:3:0; 
One white blanket 3 pence & five old blanket 0:6:0; 
2 sacks & 2 bags 1 pence, a coverlet 3 pence & 
old fledge 2 pence 0:6:0; 
a kageltree 4 pence, & old pot and griddle 1 shilling 4 pence, 
& old coverlet 0:2:3; A new sack 1s 4p, 
2 barrel & a churn 2s8p 0:4:0; 
A little wheel 8p, & 2 pottlie of salt 8p 0:1:4; 
A pail 10p, & old cane 2p, & a bousster 2s 6p 0:3:6;

WILL: KIRMEEN SENIOR hath taken three horses in 33s & 6p. 
And is to pay the Legacies bequeathed to HIS SONS JOHN 
& WILLIAM KIRMEEN, with one shilling left to WILL. COWLE, 
and the remainder being 6 pence is due to the Executors. 
The whole Inventory is 15 pound 9 shilling 3 pence. 
That which is due to the children of ARTHUR QUAIL 
by the death of their parents 5:19:8
Deducted for copies clerk xxx and other fees 0:5:10.
  
THE WHOLE OF JOHN KIRMEEN'S Inventory is 15 pound 9 shilling 3 pence. 
The goods due to ARTHUR QUAYLE'S DAUGHTERS by father 
and mother which was in the hands of the above KIRMEEN is 5:19:8. 
The sum being deducted with 5 shilling 10 pence other debts.; 
remaining to the Executors 9:3:9; 
The half of which sum being 4 pound 11 shilling 10 1/2 pence 
is due to the DAUGHTERS OF ARTHUR QUAYLE as Executors of 
half of JOHN KIRMEEN's goods which with their parents 
portion amounts to 10:11:10 1/2. 
THE OTHER HALF of the Executorship is due to the 3 YOUNGEST 
CHILDREN OF WILLIAM KIRMEEN who has taken their goods being 4:11:10 1/2. 

MAHOLD LIB. PER ANNO 1695
I FIND THAT WHOLE OF THE goods due to the DAUGHTERS OF ARTHUR 
QUAILE by the death of their PARENTS & JOHN KIRMEEN, amounts 
to the sum of 10 pounds 11 shillings 10 1/2 pence. Out of which 
deducted 1:0:1, being disbursements made by the Supervisor in 
their behalf, since JOHN KIRMEEN died, as appears by the 
particulars annexed to the Inventory. There remains 9:11:9 1/2. 
Of which allowed by the Court towards the maintenance of the 
YOUNGEST DAUGHTER (being young and feeble, and the Supervisor 
being but a servant at the hire) as has been declared by Mr. 
THOMAS ALLEN, and which the Register also remembers, and to 
which the ELDEST OF THE SAID DAUGHTERS being the only child 
at age has consented; the sum of twenty shillings out of the 
whole goods rests 8:11:9 1/2. Which is in the hands of their 
UNCLE THOMAS QUAIL the Supervisor. And which being divided 
among the said DAUGHTERS in equal proportions, remains due 
to each 2:17:3 and the 3rd part of a half penny. The goods 
in the hands of their UNCLE THOMAS QUAIL the Supervisor.

The Whole Inventory 8:11:9 1/2. 
More Deducted: 
To the Regr 6 pence; 
To a labourer (a man that brought in behalf of 
the Supervisor) 4 pence; 
More for copies 6 pence; 
More 3 shilling due to MARGT QUAIL for the girl's 
diet xxx that within mentioned 0:3:0; 
Total 0:4:4. 
Which deducted from the above sum rests 8:7:5 1/2. 
Which divided among the THREE DAUGHTERS each one's 
proportion amounts to 2:15:10. 
Item, more 2 shillings paid to JOHN QUAYLE the 
childs diet, the whole being 9 shillings xx hereof a 
mistake there was set down in the accounts but 7 shillings. 

FEBRUARY 24TH 1696/7
THE BEARER is Supervisor of ARTHUR QUAYLE'S CHILDREN and 
will now satisfy you of the 20 shillings allowance proposed 
for the youngest child's maintenance; He desires a copy of 
the several sums of money due to the said children that he 
may the more effectually proceed in collecting it forth with 
etc. This with care & servire is all that offens from.

MEMORANDUM: 
WHAT MONIES I have paid in the behalf of the Executors of 
JOHN KIRMEEN, 1696: 
Paid to William Quaile for 3 lambs (and 11 pence 
as has been proved by David Mcylroy) 0 pounds 3 shillings 0 pence; 
For the Lord's Rent 0:8:0; 
To William Joughin 0:0:6; 
To William Callow for cattle grassing 0:0:8; 
For Rack Rent 0:0:9; 
To the Coroner 0:0:2; 
To John Quail for the Childs diet 0:7:0; 
and 2 shilling of the nine is paid to John Quail in meal 0:2:0. 
I find the above accounts annexed to the Will and 
Inventory of JOHN KIRMEEN by THOMAS QUAIL Supervisor of 
ARTHUR QUAIL'S CHILDREN.

More to QUAYLE'S WIFE 1 shilling. 
WILL CALLOW OWES to the said Executors 2 shillings for 
half a f--- and DAVID MOLEROY owes 6 pence for turf: 2:6. 

APRIL THE 22ND 1696
DANIEL MCLERVY[?] enters his claim against the Executors 
of JOHN KIRMEEN for 1 bowl of barley the one half due to 
himself and the other to his SON IN LAW WILLIAM QUAIL AND 
DAUGHTER, and also for 18 pence in money due as will be 
made to appexxx. He enters also for half of so much corn 
as was necessary to be sown in Ballnaskeig for 2 years 
last past, and also for his assxxx in bringing and larging 
his goods from KK Bradan which the said KIRMEEN promised 
to do but did not whereby the claimer is endamaged to 
the value of which he enters for; and also for xxxx done 
in his care by the said KIRMEEN, goods cost harvest to 
the value of 20 shillings. 

APRIL 22nd 1696
DAVID MACLEROY in behalf of HIS SON IN LAW AND 
DAUGHTER enters against the Executors of JOHN KERMEEN 
for 6 lambs due by Contract and also a sheep due 
for xxx money to his said son, & craves the Law. 

NOVEMBER 2ND 1699
THOMAS QUAIL Supervisor of the CHILDREN OF ARTHUR QUAIL 
doth hereby acknowledge to have received from the hands 
of EDWARD MARTIN the 20 shillings mentioned in the will 
of JOHN KIRMEEN and doth acquit the said EDWARD MARTIN 
forever for the same. Witness his subscription

APRIL THE EIGHT, 1697
Received from THOMAS QUAIL 6 pence in part of my 
father's and mother's good.

MARCH 11TH 1703/4
I KATH: QUAILE DO HEREBY acknowledge the receipt of 
2 pound 15 shilling 4 pence from the hand of the 
WIDOW OF THOMAS QUAILE MY UNCLE Supervisor, and do 
acquit all persons concerned for the sum; it being 
due to me by the death of my FATHER, MOTHER & 
JOHN KIRMEEN. [signed her mark] KATH: QUAIL. 

ANN QUAIL one of the Executors of ARTHUR QUAIL AND 
HIS WIFE AND JOHN KIRMEEN being at lawful years doth 
take PATRICK KEWLEY for Debitor for the sum of 
one and twenty shillings and four pence which is 
in his hands of her part of the goods and due for 
that sum discharge the WIDOW OF THOMAS QUAIL HER 
UNCLE who had the goods in his hands. And the said 
PATRICK KEWLEY has given pledges to secure the 
payment of the said sum WILLIAM CALLOW of 
Ballnaskeige, Witness our subscriptions this 
11th of March 1703/4,

I JOHN KELLEY of KK Michael do acknowledge to have in 
my hands the sum of 2 pounds 15 shillings 1 pence, 
being the whole of the goods due MARGERY QUAYLE by 
the death of her father and mother &c., and do oblige 
myself for the portions thereof for her use in the 
penalty of double the value.

MORE the sum of 2 pound 3 shilling 10 pence, which is 
the whole of all due to me upon the xxxx xxx

1704 MARCH 31ST
THEN RECEIVED OF MARGT. CALLOW WIDOW & RELICT OF THOMAS 
QUAILE late of K Maughold the sum of twenty shillings 
in part of a greater sum due unto me. I say received in 
part of goods left or due unto me upon the decease of my 
FATHER, the sum of 20s.

KK MAUGHOLD THE 24TH OF JULY 1703
I DO HEREBY acknowledge to have received from the hands 
of WILLIAM KERMEEN MY FATHER the twenty shillings legacy, 
which was left to me by JOHN KERMEEN, deceased, late of 
Balnaskeigby. Therefore I desire the Register cross and 
blot my father's name out of the Book for the same twenty 
shillings. In testimony hereof I have subscribed my name 
the day and year above written. 
I say received by me [signed his mark] WILL KERMEEN. 

JULY THE 24TH 1703
WE WHOSE NAMES are under written, being WILL KERMEEN'S 
TWO DAUGHTERS, and being now at full age, doth hereby 
acknowledge to have received from the hand of our FATHER 
WILLIAM KERMEEN all the goods or moneys or moneys worth, 
which was due, left to us by or in the last will of 
JOHN KERMEENE, deceased late of Ballnaskigby, as we were 
left half executors of the goods of the foresaid JOHN 
KERMEENE. Therefore we do clearly acquit and discharge 
our said father for the sum & goods, and desire that 
the Register may be pleased to cross our father's name 
out of the book of Records for the same, in testimony 
hereof we do subscribe our names the day and year above 
written. I say received by us

This Discharge is brought to the records by WILLIAM KIRMEEN

JULY 3RD, 1704
MARGARET CALLOW THE RELICT OF THOMAS QUAILE acknowledges 
to have received the 20 shillings in DAVID MCLEREIY'S hands 
and saith she has paid the same to ANN QUAILE ONE OF THE 
DAUGHTERS OF ARTHUR QUAILE, At witness her mark MARGT CALOW &C.

15 NOVEMBER 1705
I HAVE RECEIVED from the hands of MARGT COLLERS the sum of 
thirteen shillings and a penny, with what I have received 
before, is in full of what is due to me by the death of my 
PARENTS and my UNCLE JOHN KIRMEEN; And does acquit all 
persons concerned for the same. As witness my mark
