Archdeacon Will 1695 #60 Santan of Hugh Cowle, died 4 March 1695/96:  

The last will & Testamt of Hu: Cowel of ye parish 
of Santan who dyed ye 4th of March 1695/6.    
First he commited his soul to God & his body to Xtian burial.    
It: He left to his 2 younger children viz Tho 
& Isable all his goods.    
It: He left to his 2 elder children viz Hu: 
& Jane six pence apeece Legacy.    
It: He left to his wife the Crofts that were 
in his possession.             
Testes: 
Robt Brew, 
Tho: Moor, jurati.   
Probatum est et Solvit 10d.

The mother is sworn Supervisor of the 2 younger 
children, and hath their goods in her hands, and 
hath undertaken to bring up the aforesaid children 
in regard of the Legacies left her, which she 
hath promised and obliged herself in Court, to 
Leave to each of the aforesaid children as shall 
best please her, and hath given pledges Phillip ------- 
and Tho: Brideson according to Law.
