53      KK Maughold June 20th, 1706
This is affirmed to be the last will of JOHN CHRISTIAN 
of Ramsey, who departed this life about the 27th of 
November last, being in perfect mind and memory at the 
making thereof.  
First he committed his soul to God and body to 
Christian burial.  
He declared that there was twenty four shillings due 
to him from his SISTER IN LAW MRS. CHRISTIAN of Lewage.  
He owed to Mr. ALLEN twenty shillings, HUGH KARRAN 
six shillings, & MARGT SKILLICORN three shillings.  
Lastly he appointed his three CHILDREN ANN, EDWARD 
& EWAN his true and joint Executors of all his goods 
moveable and immoveable.  
He owed Capt. CHRISTIAN SENIOR four shillings.  
Witnesses: 
Edmond Martin, 
Ann Loony.        

CHRISTOPHER CALLOW BROTHER IN LAW OF THE DECEDENT 
is sworn supervisor according to Law.  

The Inventory amounts to gross, as appears by the 
annexed paper, to 2 pounds 1 shilling 0 pence.  
Debts paid by CHRISTOPHER CALLOW, as appears by 
the particulars annexed, amount to 1 pound 4 
shillings 6 pence.  
More to be deducted the goods due to his CHILDREN 
by the death of his wife MARIAD COWN, half thereof 
being in her husband's half the goods in the 
Supervisor's hands who hath given pledge THOMAS 
COWN in form of Law.        

JULY 1ST, 1712
ON STATING OF THE INVENTORY and debts, there is 
due to the TWO CHILDREN living, the sum of 
16 shillings 6 pence besides the 20 shillings 
due to Mr. Allen.         

THE INVENTORY OF JOHN CHRISTIAN of Ramsey departed 
this life the 29th of November, praised by 4 sworn 
men, vizt Jo: Canon, Jo: Kerish, Edw: Martin and 
John Christian.  
And they found it to be the total sum of 2 pounds 
1 shillings 0 pence.  
Debts and fines paid by CHRISTOPHER CALLOW as following:  
paid to EDWARD CHRISTIN for funeral chargeso:5:2; 
More to ELIZABETH CHRISTIN for air 0:2:6; 
to JOHN CHRISTIN for making the coffin 0:2:0; 
for bringing the beade 0:0:4; 
to its XXX[THS?] TALOR for making xxx 0:1:2; 
to Captain CHRISTIN JUNIOR 0:3:3; 
to DANIEL CURLETT 0:3:0; 
HUGH KAREN 0:6:0; 
to EDWARD CORKELL 0:0:4; 
Total Deductions 1:4:9. 
More to be deducted for Court fees 0:0:4.      

I ANNE CHRISTIAN DAUGHTER OF JOHN CHRISTIAN 
of Ramsey deceased do hereby acknowledge to 
have received from my UNCLE CHRISTOPHER CALLOW 
the onehalf of sixteen shillings & six pence 
due by the death of my FATHER & BROTHER EWAN, 
that is to say 8 shillings 3 pence.  
Also I do acknowledge to have received from 
my said UNCLE the one half of the debt 
remitted by Mr. ALLEN which my said uncle 
had goods in his hands to satisfy vizt., 
10 shillings more.  
In all I have received this day and before 
17 shillings 3 pence in money and am to have 
a little wheel in another shilling, and 
therefore do hereby fully discharged my 
said UNCLE his Executors and Administrators 
for all sums of money and all dues and 
reckonings on account of my FATHER and 
BROTHER aforesaid.  
As witness my subscription this 26th day 
of February 1716.
