Articles of Marriage condescended unto
concluded and agreed upon between William
Qualtrough of Castletown senior? & in behalf
of his son John on ye one part, And Phill
Hutchin of the said Town in behalf of his
daughter Margaret on the other pt, as
foll –
It is condescended unto concluded and agreed upon that the
said John & Margaret shall within a moneth hence co
joyned together in the Holy Effects of Matrymoney, God
and the Church permitting the same.
It is covenanted & agreed upon that the said Will Qualtrough
doth settle and Effects upon the said young Cupple, the one
half or moiety of all his worldly goods, movables and immovables
be they of what kind or nature, to wch Marjory, wife
to the said Wm Qualtrough hath consented, and that the said
young Cupple shall possess and enjoy the said effects immed-
iately after their marriage. And the said young Cupple doth
oblige themselves to pay half the said Will Qualtrough’s
debts, and likewise to live and cohabit with them, during the
natural lives of the said Wm & Marjory.
It is also covenanted and agreed upon that the other half of
the goods shall remain in the possession of the said Wm and
Marjory, and at their disposing during their natural lives, or the
survivor of either of them, but shall not willfully make any
of them away, and that the same after the decease of the
survivor shall likewise be possessed and enjoyed by the said
young Cupple.
It is covenanted, concluded and agreed upon that the said Philip
Hutchin shall give in Marriage Dowry to his said daughter
Margt, the sum of five pounds sterl. The same to be paid
and sattisfied to the young Cupple within the Limmittation
of three years next after the date hereof, with above of
me..lt to be given at their Marriage. And for p formance?
of all and singular the above recited covenant and agreemt all
ptys bind themselves penalty and forfeiture of ffourty
pounds sterl, the one half to the Rt Honble the Lord of this Isle
and the other half to the party aggrieved.

The above Wm Qualtrough and Joh Qualtrough have acknowledged those Arts.
of Marriage to be their Act & Deed as form as concerns them. As
Wm Qualtrough and Rich Crellin the two ………. Wittnesses have
disposed that Phillip Hutchin now dec’d did likewise and seal
& deliver the as his Act & Deed in their possession and that
Christian the wife of sd Phillip Hutchin was also conscending
to the same notwithstanding the same was not executed by him
And all this before me

Corrin, and her son John Qualtrough is accordingly
sworn in form of Law.
