This is affirmed to be the last Will & Testament
of Margaret Kneal als Cannell; who departed this life
ye 22nd Decr 1723 and was in perfect mind & memory
at the making of it.
First, She committed her Soul to God and her Body
to Xtian Burial. Item, She left her part of the
Crop to her Husband John Kneal and Philip Radcliff
her Son equally betwixt them. Item, She left to
her Daugr Jony Radcliff a red petticoat and Apron,
with a Big Wheel & Cards, a white Blanket, and
her shaped linens. As also her part of a Calf
to deprive her from having any right in ye Croft.
Item. She left her part of the sd Croft to her sd
Husband during his Life; and after his Death whole Croft
to return to her Son Thomas Radcliffe. Item. She left
ye --- ? [insert] of her part of the Mortgage mony vizt fifteen shillings to
her sd Husband during his Life; Afterwards five shills
was to be given to each of her three children ~
Thomas, Philip & Jony Radcliffe. Item. She left to her
sd Husband all the Couple? effects? that he brought to
and procured? for the House. Item, She left
to her Grandchild John Ratcliff a Sheep Beast, if
it would be alive at May next. Item, She left
to Cath Kneal a petticoat, smock and petty
Item, She left to her son Philip Ratcliff (so long as
he continued unmarry’d) Room for his Loomes
& shelter for himself in the House. Item, She
left her part of the little pott to her sd Husband during
his Life, and then it was to return to her Son ~
Thomas Ratcliffe: And she left ye Pott [blot]
betwixt them. To ye the Witnesses 14d
Lastly she constituted & appointed her son Philip Ratcliffe
sole & lawful Execr of all the Rest of her Goods
movable & immovable.

This day the within Execr Philip Ratcliff has ac
=quitted & resigned all his right to the Croft me
---- in the Will to his Brother Thomas Ratcliff
after the said Philip’s Marriage. And he does also
discharge ye sd Thomas for all the goods due to him by
the Death of his father John Ratcliff, which is 43
[crossed out]. And the said Thomas Ratcliff does d-
charge & acquit his sd Brother Philip Ratcliff, for
all Debts he claims from him as Execr to his M---
---? the Testatrix. And Philip Kynry husband
to Jony Ratcliff does also acquit & resign their pa
of the sd Croft to Thomas Ratcliff, for the Calf
left them in the Will. And all this under t
