20    Peeltown anno 1725/6. 
The last will and testament of Jane Cross als Dawson 
who departed this life the 27th of February anno predict: 
being of perfect mind and memory at the making thereof. 
First, she committed her soul to God and her 
body to Christian burial. 
Item, she left and bequeathed unto her granddaughter 
Jane Saint a gold ring and likewise a red petticoat. 
Item, she left to her daughter Mabel Cross the twenty 
pounds that was reserved out of John Saint’s contract bargain. 
Lastly, she constituted and appointed her said 
daughter Mabel Cross whole and only Executrix of all 
the rest of her goods and effects moveable and 
unmoveable hereby cutting off and excluding all 
other relations with six pence legacy each that 
would claim or pretend any right or title to her 
goods. 
Witnesses: 
Robert Christian, 
Charles Radcliffe. 

The Executrix nominated in the will sworn according 
to Law and likewise John Saint her brother in law who 
is entitled to half the executorship by virtue of his 
marriage contract. Probatum est & solvit. 
February 8, 1726/7: 
Note, that of the twenty pounds referred in John Saint’s 
contract fifteen pounds belong to Mabel and the other 
five pounds to John Saint.
