For as much as I am sometimes hindred thro' indiposition, from [attd]
our Sheading Courts as I have hitherto done, I must desire you my
General, to be strict in calling for the Wills of the last & past circuits
to see that sufficent security be taken for orphans goods.
You are also to give a very strict charge to the several
Wardens, & Chapter Quests, to have a great regard to their Oaths
for the Glory of God, & suppressing the growing wickedness of the
age.
In order to this you are to require of every Charge-Man
within this Diocese, whether they, & their Church Wardens do
meet every last Sunday of the month according to the express
Law set down in our Tenth Constitution A.D. 1703. And that
then read to the Wardens the Articles of Visitation: that they
may be able to discharge their Duty conscientiously, & not
incurr the horrid guilt of Perjury.
And because a very great deal, both with respect to their temporal
& spiritual good depends upon qualifying young people for Confirmation
you are to enquire whether such are catechised & instructed every
Lords Day in the Church, according to the Canon Rubricks & our
own constitutions.
Lastly, that as you are my Substitutes, you take care to Act
joyntly, & not otherwise, in all matters relating to our .....
& jurisdiction: And that you admit not a rehearing o
matter at any time determined before me, without first acquainting
me therewith. Given under my hand this 25th of Oct A.D. 1731
Tho. Sodor & Man
To the Episcopal Register to be recorded
& communicated to the Reverd Mr. John Curghy,
& Mr John Woods my Vicars Genl.
