The last will and testament of Cathrine Raffcliff 
als Quayle who died about the 25th of November last. 
Imprimis, she committed her soul to God 
and body to Christian burial. 
Item, she bequeathed unto her eldest son 
Robert Rattcliff her part of the plow and 
husbandry gears and two bowls of oats and 
a firlett of barley after his father’s 
decease or when he had occasion for it, 
and likewise that her son Robert was to 
give his brother Thomas Rattcliff twenty 
shillings to give or bind him to some trade. 
Item, she bequeathed unto her son 
Thomas Rattcliff forty shillings and half 
a heifer called Tollagg and one ewe lamb. 
Item, she left unto her daughter 
Catharine Rattcliff thirty shillings and 
two pewter dishes and all the worsted 
that was combed in the house and a 
blanket of trustean, and her red petticoat 
and her black silk hoods, and the churn, 
and six yards of linen cloth betwixt 
Catharine and her father. 
Item, she bequeathed unto her two other 
daughters Isabell and Alice, thirty 
shillings to each of them or if the goods 
will amount to so much forty shillings apiece. 
Item, she left unto her loving husband 
Thomas Ratcliff the young mare with the 
white foot as legacy. 
Item, she left unto her sister in law 
Ellinor Bell one pair of shoes as legacy. 
Item, she left unto her sister Margaret 
McCrea her best wearing stays as legacy. 
Item, she left the children and goods 
unto her husband Thomas Rattcliff, and 
Lastly, she nominated, constituted, and 
appointed her loving husband Thomas 
Rattcliff whole and sole Executor of 
all the rest of her goods moveable and 
immoveable whatsoever.

The Executor is sworn in Court in 
form of Law and the children together 
with the tuition of their goods
