Kirk Michael 1738
The last will and testament of John Gelling of KK Michael deceased who
departed this life the 10th of July 1738 And being of perfect mind and
memory at the makeing thereof. He commited his soul to God and his body to
Cristian burial.
He left to his loving son Wm Gelling the sum of forty pounds the which said
money's is to be lodged in his mothers hands till his said son Wm Gelling is
seven and twenty years and if so be he doth not rightly be have himself then
the afforesaid money's is to be kept by his mother till he is thirty years
of age and he is only to received but twenty shillings a year out of the
afforesaid money's during the aforesaid time.
And if in case his said son Wm Gelling die before he is thirty years of age
the aforesaid moneys is to return unto his sister and all her children and
to his brother's son John Gelling equally shared among them only ten
shillings to his stepdaughter Jane Caine likewise to his son a heiffer and
colt (and all his clothes as Jon Cannon one of the witnesses disposes) He
left to his step daughter Jane Cain four sheep and to every child of hers a
lamb.
He left to Patt Lace's eldest son a calf of a year old and a lamb apiece to
every child of his -
He left to Paul Kewley a blankett.
He left to the witnesses of his will eighteen pence each.
He left to any craver six pence legacy -
LASTLY He nominated and appointed his loving wife Mary Gelling als Quayle
sole executor over all the rest of his goods and lands movable and immovable
whatsoever.
