The last will and testament of MARY HOWLAND who 
departed this life January 2nd 1741.  
First she committed her soul unto God and her 
body to Christian burial.  
Item, she left her part of the gardens at the 
church to her SON JOHN CAMMAISH and would have 
him or in other words her JOHN give his part to 
HIS STEPFATHER JOHN HOWLAND for three years as 
a help to bring up the CHILDREN.  
Item, she left her choice suit of clothes to go 
along with HER INFANT as a help to bring it up.  
Item, she left the rest of her clothes and linens 
to her DAUGHTERS JONY AND CATHRINE, AND JOHN 
HER SON to shape and make them up for them.  
Item, she left to her said TWO DAUGHTERS three 
shillings apiece when they came to lawful years, 
and if they did not live to that then to fall to 
her HUSBAND JOHN HOWLAND.  
Item, she left to her SON DANIEL THE INFANT ten 
shillings.  
Item, to her SON WILLIAM a sheep and a yearling, 
named on himself before.  
Item, to her DAUGHTER ELIZABETH CAMMAISH a 
petticoat and hood.  
Item, she named and appointed her HUSBAND 
JOHN HOWLAND sole Executor of all the rest of 
her goods whatsoever. 
To the witnesses six pence apiece.

AT A COURT OF CORRECTION in Lez:Ayre: 
The Executor is sworn in Court in form of Law, 
and in regard there are FOUR CHILDREN UNDERAGE 
to be maintained and the effects but small, 
he undertakes their maintenance wholly upon 
consideration that JOHN CAMAISH HIS STEPSON 
gives to the said Executor the croft for three 
years longer, vizt., for six years in all.  
And that ELIZABETH HIS STEPDAUGHTER discharges 
said Executor of fifteen shillings of her father's 
goods. Whereupon JOHN HOWLAND is sworn as 
above and gave pledges vizt, the witnesses.  

JOHN CAMAISH & BESSY CAMAISH are sworn overseers.

MAY 5TH 1742: JOHN CAMAISH enters a claim against 
the Executor of MARY HOWLAND for the sum of 1s 8d.
