This is affirmed to be the last will and testament of 
Dorothy Crellin als Leece who departed this life the 
25th of December 1741, being at perfect mind and 
memory at the making thereof. 
First, she committed her soul to Almighty God and 
her body to Christian burial. 
Item, she left her husband John Crellin her whole 
executor of all her goods movable and immovable. 
Item, she left to her son John Crellin one quarter 
of the crop and one plow beast, and if the child 
die that all is to fall unto the father. 
Item, she left unto her mother Margaret Leece two 
of her best gowns and her riding cloak and also 
her best head close. 
Item, she left to Elinor Taggart a red gown. 
And Lastly, she left but six pence legacy unto anyone 
else that pretended right to any part of her goods 
movable or immovable. 
Witnesses: 
Thomas Kewin, 
John Gell. 

John Crellin the husband is sworn Executor in form of Law, 
and has given pledges for payment of debts and legacies 
vizt., John Gell and Robert Quay. 
Joseph Cannell & Thomas McYlchreest with Ellinor Quane 
the aunt are sworn overseers of John Crellin the orphan 
who are to take an inventory of the xxx crop and of 
the plow beast which are to remain in the hands of the father. 

A true and perfect inventory of the effects of Dorothy Crelling 
alias Leece who departed this life about Christmas last and 
apprized by the 4 men subscribing an oath: 
16 stoakes barley 14 pence per = 18:8; 
16 stoakes of oats 8 pence per = 10:8; 
29 ditto of small oats at 6 pence = 14:6; 
15 sheaves of wheat at 1:4; 
5 carrs of hay 6 pence per = 2:6; 
one ox = 1:10:0; 
total = 3 pounds 17 shillings 8 pence. 
The above goods were apprized by us this day and this we 
return for our answer this 11th of November 1742.

February 12th, 1772
This day John Crellin son of the within Testatrix acknowledged 
to have received from his father John Crellin executor of the 
last will and testament of Dorothy Crelling als Lace on quarter 
of the crop and one plow beast, a legacy bequeathed him by his 
said mother Dorothy Crelling als Lace and doth hereby acquit 
release and discharge the said John Crellin his heirs executor 
or assigns of said legacy or any part thereof. 
Before me [signed his mark] John Crellin.

Abigail Leece als Callow the relict is sworn in Court for 
payment of debts and legacies in form of Law. To which 
end she has given pledges vizt., John Christian of Ballue 
and William Cxxx of KK Maughold. Captn. 

Thomas Radcliffe is pursuant to the will sworn supervisor 
of the orphan heir, who according to the express desire 
of the deceased is in the tuition of his grandfather 
John Leece. 
Thomas McYlchreest & Joseph Cannell the uncles on the 
deceased’s side with Ellinor Quane als Lace the aunt are 
sworn overseers. 
Pledges for John Leece the grandfather for forthcoming of 
the goods in his hands due to the heir, are William Clxxx 
Balla:willing & William Kelly ny howin
