61            Maughold
 This is affirmed to be the last will and testament of JOHN FOX 
 of Ramsey, being in perfect mind and memory at ye making hereof.  
 He left is soul to God that gave it, and his body to a Christian burial.  
 He left a tub of barly to ye lame boy at Ballacowl.  
 He left the bed he laid on to MARY CHRISTIAN, ye boulstor excepted 
 being disposed of before, he likewise left to sd MARY ye cubboard 
 in THOS CHRISTIAN HER FATHER's house, and she was to give 2 gallons 
 of brandy and 2s worth of ail towards his funeral.  
 He left all ye lands and houses both in KK Maughold, Ramsey and 
 Lezaire, that was in his power to dispose of (excepting a daymoth 
 of Hay) to WILLM CHRISTIAN THOS CHRISTIAN'S SON.  
 He left all his wearing apparel to THOS COWLE.  
 Itm He left ye above daymoth of Hay in Foxes Meadow to MARY COWLE 
 ALS CHRISTIAN, or else to THOS CHRISTIAN HER BROTHER to pay her 
 seven pounds and then he to enjoy ye sd daymoth of Hay.  
 He likewise left on ye sd THOS CHRISTIAN to give a bole of barly 
 to his BROTHER EDWARD CHRISTIAN when a whole and free cropp would 
 become due to him in Foxes Flatt in consideration of money he ye 
 sd THOMAS owed him which he wholly forgave him on that condition.  
 He left 6d legacy to each of ye witnesses.  
 Lastly, he left MARY COWLE ALS CHRISTIAN whole and sole Executrix 
 of all ye rest of his goods moveable and immovable of what kind or 
 nature soever.

 JOHN COWLE HUSBAND OF MARY COWLE ALS CHRISTIAN is sworne executor in 
 form of Law, and has given pledges for the paymt of debts &c, namely 
 Mr Wm Christian & Thos Cowle xxx xxxx.

 2D MAY 1764
 I JOHN CALISTER OF RAMSEY HUSBAND OF ISABEL CALISTER ALS COWLE DAUGHTER 
 OF JOHN COWLE & MARY COWLE within named late of the sd town decd 
 do acknowledge to have recd at & from the hands of William Christian son of 
 Thos Christian thing named late of sd Town decd & Jane his wife  
 Do hereby acknowledge to have recd at and from the hands of Jane Christian 
 widow & execr of Thos Christian within named the sum of three pounds ten 
 shillings being the one half of the conditional legacy of seven pounds which 
 her sd late husband Thos Christian was to pay to his within named sister 
 Mary Cowle als Christian upon his enjoying the within named day moth of hay 
 in Foxe's Meadow, And do hereby release acquit and discharge the sd Jane 
 Christian her heirs, execrs adminrs & assigns thereof for ever. 
 As witness my hand the day and date above writer,

 2ND MAY 1764
 I MARY CHRISTIAN OTHERWISE COWLE OTHERWISE BIGNALL WIFE OF WILLIAM CHRISTIAN 
 of the town of Ramsey boatman by whom I am lawfully authorized by power of 
 Attorney to receive such sums of money or goods & chattels as are due unto 
 him being formerly married to John Cowle late of the sd Town decd who was son 
 of John Cowle & Mary Cowle within named as also Execr to both the Wills of 
 his sd father & mother, & he my said former husband John Cowle having died 
 intestate, my three children which I had by him were decreed joint Adminrs of 
 his goods & effects & the above named John Calister their uncle being sworn 
 Supervisor the Decd's part of the sd Children with their goods being by his 
 consent remanded unto me, Do therefore hereby acknowledge to have recd at & 
 from the hands of Jane Christian the widow & execr of the within named Thos 
 Christian the sum of three pounds ten shillings being the other half of xxx 
 within conditional Legacy of seven pounds which the sd Thos Christian was to 
 pay unto his within named sister Mary Cowle upon his enjoying the within 
 daymoth of hay in Foxes Meadow recd
