At a Consistory Court in Kk Michael
March 14 1744

John Corteen late of Kk Maughold perished
upon the Coast of England about the 28th day
of January last Intestate. The Court upon
Intelligence thereof hath Decreed his three Children
Namely John, Catherine & Edwd Corteen joint
Administrators of all his Goods & Chattells
moveable & Immovable whatsoever

The Adminrs being under age - John Kerruish husband
of jane the aunt on the father's side is sworn overseer
The Deads part of the Children & of their Effects are
in his Custody - and he has given pledges in form
of Law - Vizt - Mr Arthur Cowle & Wm Curghey of
Ball-drommey.
The widow is likewise sworn to render a true
account to the overseers.

Memdm - The other overseers being abroad are to be sworn
upon their return to ye Island.

April 3 1745 - John Kerruish the overseer & the widow of John
Corteen have now agreed - vizt He surrenders the Lands for the
present Crop to her - She to work & sow ye same - and to give
a ?? free to the Adminrs agt Harvest next, to be Inventory'd
- Sd Kerruish is to allow her twenty shills per annum for ye
maintenance of ye Deads part of ye Children - and this in behalfe
of himself & of ye other overseers.

& Children Committed unto her - and she has given pledges vizt
her father Thos Cubbon & Jon Kelly

At Kk Michael Aug 2 1746  Margt Corteen Aunt of the
             orphans of John Corteen is now sworn overseer
             being lately come to the Island.
Edw: MooreNov 12 1748  - John Kelly one of the pledges of the Widow
of John Corteen is upon complaint made by him, releas'd
of his obligation - Harry Kelly her father in Law becomes
pledge instead of the former.

Queen ye sum of one pound 2 shillings
& 2 pence being in full for a yeare
Rent due for ye year 1745 and for
Alination due to her son 5 shilling

We William Comish and Catherine Comish do acknowledge to have
receiv'd from Henry Kelley of Kk Maughold the sum of two pound
being in full our part of the sd Catherine Comish her fathers
Effects Viz John Corcheen Deceased. We say Received by us this 10th day
of June 1775

& Discharge as their Act of Deed before me
