The last will and
testament of Mary Gellin alias Quayle of the parish of KK Michael who
departed this life the 12th of March 1744/5 being of perfect mind and memory
at the making hereof.
FIRST She commited her soul to God and body to Christian burial.
ITEM - She left and bequeathed to her son Patrick Lace that part of the crop
of Baregarroo which shall grow upon her lands of inheritance for this very
present year and likewise the other part of said crop which shall grow upon
the lands purchased by her and her late husband John Gelling she left unto
her son Wm Gelling together with all her right and title the said purchase
lands hereby binding and -----her said son Wm Gelling never to sell or
mortgage as part of the said purchased lands vizt of the part of the same
which lies below the Baregarrow Road.
ITEM She left unto her God daughter Mary Caine the one half of that money
with she had in Wm Kewn's hands in Jurby (the whole being about twelve
pounds) and the other half of the same unto Dan, Margt, and Jane Caine her
three grandchildren, the said Mary having the interest of all the said Cath
until she comes of age of eighteen years their unkle Patt:Lace he their
overseer in that case and in case all the children should die under age that
then their said legacy shall return to said Patt:Lace.
ITEM To the said Mary Cain she left forty shillings more when she comes of
age.
ITEM She declared that Jon Sayle owes her thirty shillings of which she left
his own son half a crown and the rest of said thirty shillings to Dan'l Cain
Ballanaa in ----- his father shall keep it.
ITEM: To her grandson James Lace she left three pounds of the Cash owed her
from his father Patt Lace and acquited said Patt Lace of any further payment
of what was in his hands.
ITEM: To Patt: Lace's wife a black gown.
ITEM: To her sister Christian Clark a red gown.
ITEM: To her god daughter Anne Cain a choice she lamb.
ITEM: To Mary Lace one of the witnesses a choice petticoat.
ITEM: To Patt Cain the other witness one shillings.
ITEM: To her two grandsons Patt:Lace and Jon Caine ten shillings each
against Michaelmas next.
ITEM: Six pence legacy to all claimmers and Lastly she nominated and
appointed her said son Wm Gelling sole executor of all the rest of lher
goods movable and immovable whatsoever.

The witnesses further declare that the testatrix at the making of her will
declared that in case her son Wm Gelling should sell or mortgage that part
of the lands bequeathed unto him which lyes below the Baregarrow Road that
then and in that case the same should descend or return to the estate.
KK Michael March 15th 1744 -
Patrick Cain and Mary Lace the witnesses have proven the contents of the
within will and of the codocil annexed according to law. The executors is
thereupon sworn for the payment of debts and legacys and has given pledges
viz: John Cain Ballanaa and Patrick Cain. They are also pledges for the
three pounds in the hands of Patrick Lace.

Dec 10th 1745 John Corlet and Cathrine his wife enter or claim against the
executor of Mary Gelling for 4 lbs.
Mar 26 1750 - Patr Lace of Peeltown overseer of the within names Mary, Danl;
Margaret and Jane Cain came this day to the Registry and acknowledged to
have received from Wm Kewn of Jurby the sum of twelve pounds for the use of
the above named Mary, Dan and does in their behalf hereby payment and
discharge the said Wm Kewn his heirs and assigns forever for the said sum
witnesses his subscription dated ut supra Patrick Lace.
June 18th 1757 - Dan'l Cain arrived at lawful years came this day to the
Registry and acknowledges to have received at and from the hands of his
uncle Patrick Lace his overseer ther sum of forty shillings being the whole
of the legacy bequeathed to him by the will of his grandmother Mary Gelling
and does hereby requit and discharge the said Pat:Lace his uncle of the same
for ever. Before me - Matths Curghey.
June 18,1757 - Margt Cain arrived at lawful years came this day to the
Registry and acknowledged to have rec'd all and from the hands of her uncle
Pat:Lace her overseer her part of the legacy bequeathed to her by her
grandmother Mary Gelling being the sum of forty shillings and does therefore
hereby acquit and discharge said Pat:Lace of the same for ever. Before me -
Matths Curghey.
Eod die - Jane Cain came to the Registry and acknowldges to have rec'd from
her uncle Pat:Lace her overseer her part of the legacy bequeathed to her by
her grandmother Mary Gelling and being the sum of forty shillings and does
hereby acquit him said Pat:Lace of the same forever. Before me Matths
Curghey.
Jun 18th 1757 - Mary Cain came this day to the Registry and acknowledges to
be fully satisfyed at and from the hands of her uncle Pat:Lace for the
legacy bequeathed to her by her grandmother Mary Gelling being six pounds
besides the sum of four pounds interest thereon the receipt of which she
otherwise acknowledges and does therefore acquit and discharge him said Pat
Lace from any further demands and suits for the same for ever -
