14 Andreas
This is affirmed to be the last will and testament
of Charles Radcliff of KK Andreas who departed this
life about the 10th of April last and was in
perfect mind and memory at the making of it.
First, he committed his soul to God and body
to Christian burial.
Item, he acquitted his father William Radcliffe
from giving any account for whatever was due
him from his said father.
Item, to his brother Thomas Radcliffe’s children
he bequeathed twenty shillings apiece legacy
and to the youngest (his godson Charles
Radcliffe) he bequeathed forty shillings legacy.
Item, to Daniel Lace he left a crown legacy.
Item, to Andrew Kneen’s son he left three
shillings legacy.
Item, to William Kneal’s son he left two
shillings legacy.
Item, to John Sayle’s son he left one shilling legacy.
Item, to Philip Teare’s son he left one shilling legacy.
Item, to John Crebbin’s daughter he left 12 pence legacy.
To Jane Lace he left 14 pence legacy.
To William Lawson 7 pence legacy.
To Bahee Curlett 12 pence legacy.
Item, to Jane Kneen & Mary Kneale he left
6 pence apiece legacy, all which said
legacies are to be paid out of the
mortgage money he had in KK Christ
Lezaire when the lands would be redeemed
and not sooner.
To his brother Thomas Radcliff he left
the bond he had from William Crow of Glanduff.
Lastly he appointed his stepmother
Jane Radcliffe and his foresaid brother
Thomas Radcliff joint executors of all
the rest of his goods movable and immovable
whatsoever. To the witnesses of this will
he left 14 pence each.

At a Chapter Court at Lezayre
June 19th, 1747
William Radcliffe husband of Jane Radcliffe
together with Thomas Radcliffe are sworn
executors in form of Law and have given
pledges for payment of debts and legacy
vizt., James Radcliff Sumner and Thomas Sayle,
one of the witnesses of the will.
Probatum est [signed] Edv: Moore.
February 15, 1750
the sum of 8 pounds 0 shillings 0 pence being
left as legacy in the within will to the
children of Thomas Radcliff co-executor with
his stepmother Jane Radcliff, the said
Thomas taking upon himself the payment of
the whole sum, acquits to his said stepmother
of her proper lien, by which the former
pledges for her are discharged. And has
give Court Security Daniel Lace of Bahee
Radcliffe and William Lace of Ramsey.

Daniel Lace acknowledges to have received
from Jane Radcliff the sum of 5 shillings
10 pence bequeathed him and does hereby
discharge and acquit her forever for the same.

A true Inventory of the goods of Charles Radcliffe of
KK Andreas taken by four sworn men namely Thomas Sayle,
Dan Kaneen, Patrick Cowll, and William Brew as follows:
The Deceased’s clothing valued as follows: 0:8:5,
Item, a riding coat at 5 shillings,
a cloth coat at 5 shillings: 10 shillings;
Item, a black waist coat at 2 shillings 4 pence,
a white waist coat at 1 shilling 6 pence: 0:7:4;
Item, a cloth coat at 1 shilling 2 pence,
2 pair of breeches at 1 shilling 2 pence;
3 shirts at 2 shillings; stockings 7 pence,
and handkerchief xx pence,
and work stock 8 pence: 0:5:7;
Item two books 12 pence, a hatt,
neck clothes 1 pence, five buttons 5 pence,
a pair of shoes 4 pence: 0:1:9;
Subtotal: 1:4:8.
Item, more added by the executors:
To an assignment of 16 pounds value from
William Crow if not already cancelled
upon record: 16:0:0;
Item, to a bill of mortgage from said
Crow of 16 pounds value with what
interest appears to be thereby behind: 16:0:0.
To a bond from William Crow proved
before the Deemster for 1:12:0.
The Deceased’s funeral charges:
To the minister and clerk: 0:1:3;
a coffin 6 shillings;
winding sheet 4 shillings: 0:10:0;
To ale 9 shillings,
brandy 4 shillings: 0:13:0;
two muttons and bread, etc.: 0:5:0;
tobacco and pipes 8 pence,
