17 Malew Whereas I Nicholas Harrison Senior of Ballageray in the parish of KK Malew did not heretofore give grant or settle on my son Nicholas Harrison any part or parcel of my goods chattels and effects that he is my whole dependent for subsistence in my old feeble and declining condition. Therefore know all men by these presents that I the said Nicholas Harrison Senior owing to the good will paternal affection which I have and do bear unto him my said dutyful son Nicholas Harrison and to estate and settle upon him part of what substance God Almighty hath been pleased to bestow upon me and in law of a filial portion to create a good understanding between all my children after my decease that no variances or disputes may hereafter arise between them. Have given, granted, settled, and estate, and by these presents do give, grant, settle, estate, and confirm on him my said son Nicholas Harrison all my goods, chattels, credits, and effects of what kind or nature soever or by what denomination soever they are called or distinguished excepting and reserving to me one cow half a dozen sheep to be after my own disposal to have and to hold unto him my said son Nicholas Harrison all the before mentioned premises as I own and sole property hereby devise myself my heirs, executors, administrators, and assigns from having any or the least right interest or property in and unto my goods, chattels, credits, and effects aforementioned (except what is before ----- and investing my said son Nicholas Harrison with the whole and sole right, title, and property, thereof and every part and parcel thereof provided always that he my said son Nicholas Harrison is to provide and procure for me the said Nicholas Harrison Senior meat, drink, cloathing, washing, and lodging during my natural life as also the use of a riding horse or mare at my pleasure when I am at any time so inclined to ride together also with all as I have been heither to accustomed to my own and friends use and entertainment. And for the true performance hereof both parties bind and oblige themselves their heirs and executors and administrators and assigns in and uncertain the penalty and forfeiture of one hundred pounds to be levyed and paid according to law as witness their subscriptions this 6th Nov 1744 Nicholas Harrison Senior Nicholas Harrison Junior Witnesses: William Curghey Richard Slater 6 Nov 1744 - Mr Nicholas Harrison Senior and Nicholas Harrison Junior acknowledged the within and above Deed of Settlement and conditions to be their voluntary act and deed. Before me John Taubman At an Abbey Court holden at Ballensalley the 14th May 1748 The within and above Deed of Settlement being acknowledged before the Deemster and now openly published in court and no objection offered against it. Is therefore allowed official and confirmed according to law.
