In the name of God, Amen. Whereas Esther 
Gelling being sick & weak in body but of perfect mind & 
memory, haveing Comitted her Soule to God and her body to Christian 
buriall doth make & appoint this her Last Will and Testament in
manner & forme following ---  
Imprimis, She Left & Bequeathed to her Dearly Beloved Husband John Gelling 
her half of a big chest & of a big pot.  
                                                   viz
Lastly, She Constituted & Appointed her two Children ^ Margaret & Charles 
Joynt Executors of all ye Rest of her Goods moveable & unmoveable 
whatsoever, & do hereby Revoke all other will or wills, allowing this 
only to be her Last Will and Testament, in Presence of 
                                              John Cubbin   } Jurati
                                              Robt Goldsmith} his mark X  

She departed this life ab't
the 16th of March 1749/8                          

          The Executors being both under age, the Uncle 
          Paul Gelling is sworn overseer. And the Dead’s 
                [....]
          part of ^ the Children & Goods Comitted unto him.  
          He together with the widow[er] are sworn in 
          form of Law, And hath given pledges vizt., 
          Wm Cain & Wm Cain both of KK Braddan.

May 16th 1748: Robt Quilliam claims ag't the Exec'rs of  Esther Gelling 
for the sum of 5 pounds : 4 : 3 ---

                     To be annexed to the Will & inventory 
                     of Esther Gelling of Douglas who 
                     departed this life in March 1747/8 ---
  
   The above Esther Gelling having at the time 
of her death left behind her two Children, it is agreed 
upon between John Gelling father to the s'd Children 
& Paul Gelling their Uncle & Supervisor, that the s'd 
John Gelling shall have all the Goods mentioned in the 
above inventory he obliging himself or his assigns 
to pay all such debts as were owing by them at the 
time of her Wife’s death & also to keep Cloaths & maintain 
                at his own proper cost
one of the Children ^ till it arrive at fourteen Years 
of Age   Paul Gelling afores'd obliging himself his 
Exec'rs or Assigns to do the like by the Other Child at 
[his] own proper cost (& this agreement is made to 
present the incumbring of a house to w'ch the s'd Children 
have a right, as the debts surmount the inventory) 
to the performance of this agreement they bind 
themselves their Ex's & assigns in the penalty of 
ten pounds to be levied according to Law as witness 
their marks this 24th of May 1749 ---

A full & true Inventory of All & Singular the Goods & Effects of
Easter Gelling late deceased being viewed & aprized by us whose Names 
Ensue being foure men called by the Sumner of Douglas and Sworn 
to that Purpose, viz:
To the Dead’s part of a loom and all her utensils  0:11:1
