This is affirmed to be the last will and testament 
of William Mcylcreest of Cross four ways in the 
said Parish, who departed this life about the 
13th day of February 1760, who was in perfect 
mind and memory at the making thereof. 
First, he bequeathed his soul to God and his 
body to a Christian burial. 
Item, he bequeathed to his son Thomas Ballanemodda 
with all the intacks and enclosure thereinto 
belonging. Item, he bequeathed to his son 
William all his possession of houses and 
lands at the said Cross four ways, and the 
Boleydowin which he was to possess after 
the decease of his with, for which houses 
and lands his said son William was to pay 
eighteen pounds to each of his brother and 
sisters, Mathew, Margaret, and Elizabeth, 
and that (as it was best understood by the 
witnesses hereunto) after the decease of 
his wife and in case that either Thomas 
or William should die without issue, 
then and in that case his said son Mathew 
should have the said Cross four ways and 
Boleydowin, paying unto the said Margaret 
and Elizabeth his sisters fifty four 
pounds as aforesaid in William’s case. 
Lastly, he left his wife sole Executrix 
of all his lands purchased from Henry 
Clucas and all the rest of his effects 
towards paying the debts.

At a Chapter Court holden in 
Castletown June 18th, 1760
The Executrix is sworn in Court in form of 
Law, who has the tuition of the children & 
their goods committed unto her, & has given 
pledges for payment of debts and legacies 
namely, Richard Hingley & Ewan Looney one 
of the witnesses of the will. Said Richard 
Hingley is sworn overseer of the orphans 
according to Law. 

5th Nov 1760
Thomas Stephen of Douglas enters against 
the Executrix of William Mcylchreest 
for 7 pounds 12 shillings 7 pence. 

6th Novr 1760 
Robert Quayle enters against the Executor 
of Wm Mcylchreest for the sum of 4:2:7 1/2. 
Ditto: Nicholas Creon[?]enters against 
the Executor of Wm Mcylchreest for 0:16:0. 
Dito: Edward Killey enters against the 
Executor of Wm Mcylchreest for 0:11:0. 
Ditto: Mr. John Taubman enters against the 
Executor of Wm Mcylchreest for 1:0:0 English. 
Ditto: John Quayle enters against the 
Executor of Wm Mcylchreest for 4:16:4 English. 

2 February 1761
The Worshipful John Taubman Deemster 
enters against the Executor of 
Wm Mcylchreest for the sum of 2:0:0 British. 

10th February 1761
Nicholas Bridson enters against the 
Executor of Wm Mcylchreest for the sum of 0:13:2. 

10th February 1761
William Shimmin enters against the 
Executor of Wm Mcylchreest for 0:3:11. 

Received from Willaim Mylechreest the 
full and just sum of eighteen pounds 
being a legacy left me by my father 
Wm Mylechreest, I say received by me 
as witness my hand this 27th of 
December 1780,

KK Malew, March 9th, 1782
Thomas Shimmin the subscribing witness 
deposed on the Holy Evangelists that 
he was by and present when Matthew 
Mylchreest executed the above receipt 
as his voluntary act and deed.

Received from William Mylchreest by me 
William Skealey the sum of eighteen 
pounds courwesy[?] by me Wm Skealley 
upon account of legacy left from my 
wife’s father. I say received by me 
[signed] Wm Skealley. 
Witness present 23 of February 1778

At KK Arbory, October 8, 1778
The within mentioned William Skealley 
acknowledged the within receipt as his 
voluntary act and deed,

At KK Arbory, October 3, 1778
John Moore of KK Malew this day acknowledged 
that he had received from William Mylchreest 
of said Parish eighteen pounds on account of 
a legacy left his wife Margaret Mylchreest by 
William Mylchreest her father deceased.
