Rushen 1765
The Last Will and Testament of Isabel Kermod alias
Qualtrough who departed this Life on the tenth day of
June 1765
First she commended her Soul to God and her body to
Christian Burial.
Itm.. She left her half of the riding Horse to her loving
Husband Wm Kermod
Itm.. She left and bequeathed to her eldest son Wm Kermod
her half of the husbandry geers(?) and a quarter of the crop
of the farm when he should have occasion to call for same.
Itm.. She left and bequeathed to her step daughter Margt
Kermod a green gown and a blue quilted petticoat.
Itm.. She left and bequeathed to her niece Eleanr Qualtrough
a red mantle.
Itm.. She left and bequeathed to her Brother Henry Qualtrough
ten shillings
Itm.. She left and bequeathed a firlet(?) of barley to the poor
of the parish, two kision? Thereof to be given to Anne Waterson
of Ballafesso, widw and the rest among the other objects.
Itm.. She left and bequeathed to her two nieces viz Esther
Qualtrough and Isabel Kermod two caps each
Itm.. She left and bequeathed to her mother during
her natural life and after her death the same to return to
her children Execrs hereafter mentioned.
Lastly she nominated and appointed her two sons Thomas
and John Kermod sole Execrs. Of all the rest of her goods
moveable and immoveable and if her said children died under
age she willed eight pounds of their goods to her loving husband above-
mentioned provided he remained unmarried. He taking the tuition of the children and the care of the Goods.

She left William Qualtrough and Ewan Qualtrough Guardians of sd. Children.
At a Chapter Court holden at Castletown Novr. 15 1765
Willm Kermod the widower of the within testatrix having
refused to undertake the tuition of the Dead's part of John
the only child under age tho' committed unto him by said
Testatrix, husband Wm Kermod is therefore Decreed to have
forfeited all manner of benefit by the within Will.
whereupon Thos. In his own right and Wm. the eldest brother on
behalf of John who is under age, are sworn to bring a
perfect Inventory to the Registry as also for payment
of Debts and Legacies according to Law. Wm & Thos aforesd
are sworn supervisors of John whose Goods are committed
to sd Wm. Pledges in form of Law are are Wm Kermod their
father & Ewan Qualtrough both of Rushen.

Then follows an Inventory consisting of animals, household goods,
and cash which totalled
61-17- 6 « pounds
less funeral charges of 4-10-10 _ pounds
Rests for the exectrs 57- 6- 7 _ pounds
Viz to each of them: 28-18-3 _ pounds each
At Ballaugh July 18 1773
I Thos Kermod one of the Exrs. Of Isabel Kermod do hereby acknowledge
to have recd. From my father Wm Kermod in different payments
the sum of twenty eight pounds eighteen shillings and threepence
three farthings in full of mmy share of this Inventory and do hereby acquit
and discharge my sd. father Wm Kermod his Exer and Admr of the same.

I John Kermod one of the Execrs. Of Isabel Kermod
the within Testatrix do hereby acknowledge to have recd.
from my Father Wm Kermod all and whatever Effects were
due unto me Excr and Residuary Legatee of the Last Will
and Testament of the sd. Testatrix save and except the apparel of
the sd. Isabel Kermod and do hereby acquit exonerate and
discharge the sd. Wm Kermod & every other Person of the
same and every Part thereof. Witness my subscription
this day above written.
