          To the Reverend Robert Radcliffe 
          and Mathew Curghey Vicar General 
          of this Isle

          The Humble Petition of John Kermode 
          and Ellinor Kermode als Caine als 
          Leece his wife of Renshent in the 
          Parish of Kk Malew

Sheweth

     That Thomas Caine late of the same place 
     former husband to yr petitioner Ellinor 
     having departed this life on or about 
     the month of November in the year of our 
     Lord 1764 intestate.

     That yr Revces Court having Decreed his 
     three surviving children namely Thos, 
     Willm and Robt Caine joint admrs of all 
     his goods and chattels moveable and 
     immoveable whatsoever.

     That the said children being infants under 
     the age of fourteen years. The deads part 
     of them and their goods were committed 
     unto the tuition of your Petitr Ellinot 
     their mother, who with their supervisor 
     Thos Curghey their uncle were sworn to bring 
     a perfect inventory to this Registry of 
     the goods of the intestates, which [?] 
     yr Petitr Ellinor duly complied which 
     amounted to the sum of forty three pounds 
     one shilling and five pence.

     That your Petitr Ellinor hath since intermarried 
     by which she hath lost and given up her widow 
     rights in the said Estate of Rensheant and 
     the same is now become the sole property of 
     Thos Caine the eldest son and Heir who is 
     at present about the age of eleven years.

     That Thos Curghey the said Guardian having 
     on or about the month of Nov Last ???????? 
     a jury of survey or estimation to value and 
     estimate the yearly profits of the said estate 
     who by their verdict or return have valued 
     and estimated the same to eleven pounds per annum.

         In tender consideration of the ???????  
         and forasmuch as the yearly interest 
         of the said childrens goods and effects 
         is not sufficient to maintain and educate 
         the Deads part of the said children 
         especially the Heir who is carefully kept 
         to school. 
         Your Petitioners therefore most humbly 
         pray that your Reverences would be pleased 
         to order a sufficient compensation of 
         the yearly value and produce of the said 
         Estate may be allowed your said Petitioners
         for the maintenance and education of the 
         said children until the eldest son and 
         Heir arrives at the age of fourteen years 
         and your Petitioners as bound shall pray

 

At a Consistory Court holden at Peettown March 30 1767 
Having taken the matters of this Petition into consideration 
and Thos Curghey Guardian and supervisor of the children 
in this Petition mentioned having declared that the said 
children are taken due care of and that the oldest son 
and Heir is sent to a distant and proper school for his 
Education we think proper to allow the Petitioners the 
sum of seven pounds per Ann out of the profits of the 
Estate towards the support and education of said children 
over and above the interest of their goods for the period 
of three years from this date hereof to all which the said 
Guardian made no objection
