In the name of God, Amen. I Richard Moore of 
the town aforesaid being in perfect health 
and in sound mind and memory make this my 
last will and testament. 
First, I commend my soul to God, hoping 
through the merits of my Saviour Jesus Christ 
to receive full pardon and remission of 
all my sins; and my body I commit to the 
earth to be decently buried. 
Item, I leave to my child or children 
three hundred pounds, one hundred of 
which is now in the hands of my father 
in law Captn. Thomas Christian of Jurby, 
and in case my said child or children 
should happen to die before they come 
of proper age to dispose of the same 
by will or otherwise that it shall 
descend and fall to my wife Ann Moore, 
whom I constitute nominate and appoint 
to my sole and entire executor of all 
my goods and effects movable and 
immovable of what kind soever, leaving 
one shilling legacy to all persons that 
can claim anything. In witness whereof 
I have set my hand the day and date aforesaid.

At a Consistory Court holden in Peeltown 
9th April 1766, 
Thomas Cannell & Ewan Key the above 
subscribing witnesses have deposed on 
the holy Evangelist that the above 
named Richard Moore duly signed and 
executed the above written will in 
their presence, and that he duly published 
and declared in their presence that 
the same was his last will and testament, 
as also that he the said Richard Moore 
was of sound and disposing mind and 
memory at the time of the execution 
of said will. Whereupon Mrs. Ann Moore 
the widow is by the consent of Robert 
& Peter Moore the brothers and of 
Mr. William Crebbin the husband of 
Esther Crebbin als Moore sister of 
the deceased sworn executrix in form 
of law, to whom the dead’s part of 
his children with their goods is by 
the consent of the said Robert & 
Peter Moore as also of the said 
William Crebbin who are sworn supervisors 
of said children committed to the 
widow, and she hath given pledges 
in form of Law for the payment of 
debts and legacies, namely the Revd. 
Mr. James Wilks Vicar of KK Michael 
and the said Mr. William Crebbin of Douglas
