48, Douglas Whereas we Patrick Corlet and Cathrine Corlet my wife als Christian are old and infirm and do make our last will and testament jointly & severaly in manner following: First we commit our souls to Almighty God and our bodies after death to a decent & Christian burial, hopeing for mercy through the merits of our blessed Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ and a glorious resurrection, we do hereby agree that the longer liver of us is to possess & enjoy all our goods chattels & effects moveable and immoveable of any kind and nature whatsoever and the same to be at the disposing of the longest liver of us, and if in case that God shall be pleased to call for one or the other of us at any time hereafter, then and in that case after the decease of the first of us we do leave twenty shillings to be paid to the poor of Douglas, by the longer liver on demand and that by authority & grant of the minister & wardens of Douglas to the poor that shall stand in need and as their necessity requires. We do leave & bequeath by us the longest liver to our DAUGHTER CATHRINE five shillings. We do leave to our DAUGHTER ANN the second daughter five shillings and we do also leave to our younger DAUGHTER MARGRET CORLET ALS CALLOW five shillings and all her mother's wearing apparel and a mourning ring, of gould and alsoe this after the decease of the longer liver of us, to be paid and sattisfyd by the longer liver. We do also leave to any person or persons six pence apiece legacy that shall claim any right or title to any part or parcel of our effects moveable or immoveable and to the subscribeing witnesses one shilling each legacy And this will to be irrevokeable and the longer liver to be accomptable for the payment of the legacy's before mentioned to each person and the poor to be fully paid by one of the other of us and lastly we do constitute nominate & appoint the longer liver of us to be whole sole Executor of our goods chattels & effects moveable and immoveable of any kind and nature whatsoever and all that to be paid by the longer liver of us the aforementioned Legacys, In testimony whereof we do jointly and severally put our names & marks this 20th of Janry 1758.
