Archdeacon Will 1767 #55, Andreas, of Christian Garret alias Goldsmith, died about 27 February 1767:
55     KK Andreas 1767
The last will and testament of Christian Garret alias 
Goldsmith of the parish of KK Andreas who departed this 
life on or about the 27th day of February 1767; being 
of perfect mind and memory at the making thereof. 
First, she committed her soul to God and her body to 
Christian burial. 
Item, she left to her daughter Mary the wife of William 
Kneal of KK Bride her black gown and brown petticoat, 
together with a coverlet which was in her own custody. 
Item, she left to her son John Garret a mare. 
Item, she left to her grandson William Lace a chest. 
Item, she left to her son Joseph Garret six yards of 
stuff, a piece of flannel, and a sheet. 
Item, she appointed her daughter Isabel to give her 
riding hood to Margaret Kneen. 
Item, she left to her son Ewan Garret eight shillings legacy. 
Item, she left to her grandson Joseph Garret a pewter 
plate and two spoons. 
Item, she left to her said son Joseph Garret a pewter 
dish and a spoon. Item, she left to Jane Garret a 
white ewe yearling. 
Item, she left to her said son Joseph Garret the bed 
he laid on and a new bolster, which was under her own head. 
Item, she declared that there was twenty shillings 
each paid to her said sons Joseph and John Garret 
over and above all and whatsoever belonged to them 
by the decease of their father which is not to be 
demanded or recovered of them. 
Item, she declared that John Kneen owed her twenty 
eight shillings whereof she left eight shillings to 
himself as legacy. 
Item, she declared that her said son Ewan Garret 
owed her sixteen shillings together with fourteen pence 
she lent to him. 
Lastly, she nominated and appointed her daughter 
Isabel Lace alias Garret the wife of John Lace sole 
Executrix of all the rest of her goods and effects 
of what nature or denomination soever. 
To the witness of this will she left one shilling each.

At a Chapter Court holden at 
Lezayre 25th May 1767
John Lace the husband of Isabel Lace als Garret is sworn 
Executor in Court in form of Law and hath given pledges 
for the payment of debts and legacies, namely William 
Kneale & William Christian both of KK Andrews.

4th April 1768
John Kneale enters against the Executor of Christian Garret 
for the sum of 8 shillings 4 pence or thereabout, being for 
her proportion of wages due to him for serving the office 
for her and craves the Law. 

I Mary Garret als Wilson wife of John Garret (son of the 
within named Testatrix Catharine Garret als Goldsmith) 
who formerly resided in this Isle, but now resides in Ellan 
Foot otherwise Mary Port in the County of Cumberland & 
Kingdom of Great Britain, do hereby acknowledge to have 
received at and from the hands of John Lace of Ballaseir 
in the Parish of KK Andrews Executor of the said Catharine 
Garret als Goldsmith the full and just sum of one pound 
twelve shillings currency of the Isle in full for the mare 
left unto my said husband by his said mother, and I do also 
acknowledge that whatever legacy was left unto my said 
husband by his father hath been fully paid and discharged. 
And I do hereby acquit and release as far as in my power 
the said John Lace the Executor to my said mother in law 
his heirs, Executors, Administrators, & Assigns thereof 
forever. As witness my mark to my name this 24th April 1769.
