maintenance of the dead part of said child and goods committed to them.

The humble petition of Jane Sprainger late of the town of Ramsey widow.
Sheweth that Wm Sprainger Junr of Ramsey aforesaid your petr's
husband departed this life some time in or about the year of our Lord 1774
having made his will whereby he left your petr executrix which
will hath been since proved and your petr sworn in form of law and it
happened that the deceased was involved in sundry debts whereof your
petitioner was not aware of and several people having entered their
claims and proved their respective debts which by all appearance will
vastly surmount the inventory and cant sales of the deceased effects and
particularly George Strachan of the said town of Ramsey having entered his
claim for the sum one pound and four shillings British and proved the same
but what is most extraordinary he hath an order against the petitioner for
the entire sum of his said claim without any notice having been taken of
either the deads or livings part of goods or how the creditors ought to be
paid in proportion yet in that respect he endeavours to distress and oppress
your defenseless petitioner.
Your petitioner therefore most humbly prays your Reverence to take her
distressed condition to your most judicious consideration and to be
graciously pleased to grant a hearing hereof before your Reverence court
with authority to charge all proper parties and persons to appear and attend
at the same time that upon a full examination thereof said George Gtrachan's
said irregular order my be rectified and made in a regular
form whereby your petitioner may have justice according to the due course of
law an in the mean time that the said George Strachan's said order may be
laid under the injunction of our Revdıs Court and stand suspended and stayed
until a final determination hereof before your
Revdıs Court and your petitioner shall forever pray.
Ordered that the matter of this petition come on to be heard at our next
Consistory Court to be holden at KK Michael on the nineteenth day of
November next. Whereof all proper parties and persons to have due
notice and in the meantime the order upon George Strachan's claim
above mentioned is hereby suspended.
Given at KK Michael this 8th of August 1777.
 John Moore.

At a Consistory Court holden at Kk Michael Nov 19th 1777.
The matters of this petition having come on to be heard this day in presence
of the petitioner as also of some of the principal creditors of
the said Wm Sprainger deceased. The court upon consideration thereof
as also of what was pleaded argued and aledged by and in behalf of the
parties respectively thinks proper to order and it is hereby ordered
accordingly that the Rev Christian Registrar of the court do proportion
the clear amount of the inventory of articles of the estate of the said
Wm Sprainger amongst the several claimers against the said estate who have
legally proved their claims and that the executrix of this will do discharge
the said claims in the said proportion as also that the order on George
Strachanıs claim be rectified and amended as prayed for.
John Moore.
