The last will and testament of Mary Tear
alias Lace of KK Andreas who departed
this life on or about the ninth day of Decr
1774, being of perfect mind and memory
at the making thereof.
First She committed her soul to God, and
her body to Christian burial.
Itm, She left to her six sons namely John,
James, Daniel, Philip, Charles & William
Tear six pounds each.
Itm, She left to her sd oldest son John
Tear a mare, or a cold, and that he was to
have either of the same at the pleasure of
his father James Tear.
Itm, She left to her daughter Anne Tear the
sum of ten pounds & the heifer called that
of her own, with feathers & clothes for a
bed, and as much glax as would serve her
to make the tick of a bed & bolster, and
that she was to spin, or manufacture the
same herself.
Itm, She left to her daughters namely Joney
& Anne Tear her shaped woolen & linnin clothes.
Itm, She left to her two grand-children
John & Mary Martin an ewe lamb each.
Lastly She nominated constituted and
appointed her loving husband James Tear
sole executor of all the rest of her goods
& effects of what nature or denomination
so ever. To the witnesses of this will she
left an English shilling each.

At a Court of Correction holden
at Lezayre March 7th 1775
The Exer is sworn in Court in form of Law &
has the tuition of Charles & Wm two of the
children underage committed unto him by
consent of their brother John & James who
are sworn guardians & Supervisors.
Pledges for the payment of debts & legacies
are Wm Radcliffe & Charles Lace both of Andreas.

We James, Charles, & Wm Teare three of the
sons of the within Testatrix Mary Teare do
hereby acknowledge to have each of us
respectively recd the sum of six pounds each,
the same being the Legacy bequeathed us by
the last will & testament of our said mother
Mary Teare, due to each of us respectively
& release acquit exonerate & discharge the
Execr of our sd mother Mary Teare of all &
every part of our respective Legacy’s of six
pounds each, witness our names this 3d
January 1788: James Tear, Chas Teare. Wm Teare.

I John Teare husband of Ann Teare the within
named Legatee do acknowledge to be fully
paid the Legacy of ten ponds with the other
articles bequeathed my sd wife & do acquit the
Execr of the last will of Mary Tear of all
demands on acct of the same witness my hand
this 19th Novr 1803, John Tear.
I John Martin husband of the within named Legatee
Joney Tear the several articles bequeathed my sd
wife by the last will of her mother Mary Tear
& do acquit the Execr of the last will & testamt
of all demands on acct of the same witness my
hand this 19th Novr 1803, John Martin his X.

We John Tear & Daniel Tear son of the Testatrix
Mary Teare do hereby acknowledge to be fully
paid & satisfied the several & respective Legacies
bequeathed us by the last will & testamt of our
said mother & do hereby acquit release & discharge

Mary Tear of all claims & demands on account of
the same Witness our name this 19th Nov 1803,
