The last will and testament of WILLIAM LACE who 
departed this life about the 22 November 1775, 
being of sound mind and memory at the making thereof.  
First he committed his soul to God 
and body to Christian burial.  
Item, he left to his beloved WIFE CATH: LACE 
a furnished bed whereon he laid and the riding 
horse (vizt., the gray gelding).  
Item, he left to his SON DANIEL LACE twenty pounds legacy.  
Item, he left to his SON JOHN LACE twenty pounds legacy.  
Item, he left to his SON PHILIP LACE all 
the purchased land which he purchased 
from THOMAS COTTIER (prince).  
Item, he left to his DAUGHTER ELIZABETH LACE thirty pounds legacy.  
Item, he left to his DAUGHTER MARGARET LACE twenty pounds legacy.  
Lastly, he nominated and appointed his SON 
WILLIAM LACE whole executor of all the rest 
of his goods moveable and immovable whatsoever 
and a shilling each to the witnesses of 
his will and six pence legacy to any person 
or persons that would claim any right or 
title to break this his last will.

AT A CHAPTER COURT HOLDEN at 
Lezayre June 20th, 1776, 
the Executor is sworn in Court in form 
of Law and hath given pledges for the 
payment of debts and legacies vizt., 
the witnesses of the will.    

WE JOHN LACE AND DANIEL TWO OF THE SONS of 
the within named Testator WILLIAM LACE, and 
WILLIAM CHRISTIAN HUSBAND OF ELIZABETH LACE 
& ROBERT COWLE HUSBAND OF MARGARET LACE two 
of the DAUGHTERS OF the within Testator 
WILLIAM LACE do hereby each of us respectively 
acknowledge to have received and to be 
fully paid the several legacies bequeathed 
us and our respective wives by the last will 
and testament of our FATHER WILLIAM LACE at, 
by and from the hands of OUR BROTHER WILLIAM 
LACE executor of the last will and testament 
of our said Father William Lace deceased, 
and we do each of us respectively hereby 
acquit release exonerate and discharge the 
said William Lace his heirs, executors, 
administrators and assgns of all and ever 
part of the respective legacies bequeathed 
unto us by the last will and testament of 
our said deceased father William Lace.
