The last will and testament of I Joney Cain of Ballgair in the parish of
KK German being at perfect mind and sound memory at the making hereof in
manner and form following:
I commend my soul to God and body unto Christian burial.
First I leave and bequeath unto my daughter Isabella all my wearing
apparel linen and woolen (except that cloath which I wore during my
illness) and all my pewter, check reel, smoothing iron, the big chest and
the worsted stuff that is at Thos Shealeys and four yards of wheeling stuff
Secondly I leave and bequeath unto James Craine of Peeltown youngest
daughter twelve shillings and three pence.
Item I leave and bequeath unto Wm Gawn senior twelve shillings and
three pence.
Item I leave and bequeath unto Wm Coole's wife of Peeltown twelve
shillings and three pence.
Item I leave and bequeath unto Thos Radcliffe of Peeltown's two
youngest children that is to say the twins four yards of wheeling stuff.
I leave and bequeath unto Wm Kaighin's two youngest children four yards of
Wheeling stuff.
Item I leave and bequeath unto Thos Colvin son of Arthur Colvin two
yards of Wheeling stuff.
Item I leave and bequeath unto Elinor Leece wife of John Leece three
yards and a half of wheeling stuff a small piece of blue camblet which is
now in her own keeping and my largest -----,
Item I leave and bequeath unto Thos Caine's son two yards and a half of
wheeling stuff.
Item I leave and bequeath unto Thos Cottieršs daughter with the sore or lame
hand, three yards of wheeling stuff.
Item I leave and bequeath unto Thos Corkill's youngest child two yards of
wheeling stuff.
Item I leave and bequeath unto Wid:Cannell's daughter whatever of the
wheeling stuff that is now at Thos Skealey's may remain after the above
bequests of the wheeling stuff be paid
Item I leave and bequeath unto my nursekeeper Ann Crellin my pott oven, my
little wheel, a low chair, a low heeled pair of shoes, a pair of
stockings, my old blue cloak, my calamancoe gown, two bed gowns two
petticoats, a shift, a flannel wastcoat, the same being the articles I
wear in my illness and also leave her fourteen pence for every week that she
hath or may be with me during my illness attending me.
Item I further leave and bequeath unto my daughter Mary Cannel my two
best sacks and a feather bolster.
Item I leave and bequeath unto my son's maid servant Ann Quirk my pair
of shoes, a check gown and a check apron.
Item I leave and bequeath unto Peter Quirk five shillings British and a
ewe yearling.
Item I leave and bequeath unto my brother's son Thos Quiggin five
shillings British.
Lastly I constitute nominate and appoint my son John Caine whole and
sole executor of all the rest of my goods and effect moveable and immovable
be the of what kind or nature soever excluding and debarring
all claimers with six pence legacy each.
And I do further leave desire and appoint that my executor above named shall
cause that I shall be decently buried, and that one guinea be
expended for a stone to cover my grave and half (have) also my grave shall
be raised with stone and lime mortar nine inches from the surface and I and
I do hereby desire and appointment of my good friend James Caine now of
Peeltown but formerly of Largydoo in witness whereof I
have caused my mark be affixed to my name this 11th June 1779.

At a Chapter Court holden at Peeltown June 15th 1780 The executor is sworn
in court in form of law and hath given pledges for the payment of debts and
legacies namely Casar Wattleworth and Patrick Lace Senior.

Joney Cain of Ballagyr by way of Codicil to her last will and testament
did on he 19th June 1779 leave and bequeath to James Cain of Peeltown a two
year old heifer the last she sent to grass at BallaLeece and upon the 23rd
of said month confirmed the same in presence of us.

At a Chapter Court holden at St John's Chapel June 21st 1781
The Rev Henry Corlett and Ann Crellin the subscribing witnesses to the above
codicil deposes on the Holy Evangelists that Joney Caine duly made the same
codicil and that she was of sound mind and memory at the making thereof the
same is therefore ordered to be annexed to the last will and testament of
Joney Cain.
