In the name of God Amen.
I John Shimmin of Ballacorris in the parish of KK Santan being now well
advanced in years and greatly in the decline of life but of perfect mind
and sound memory (which I praise God) calling to mind the uncertainty of
this transitory and mortal life.
Do make this my last will and testament in manner following.  Hereby
revoking all former will or wills by me made of that kind or nature
soever.
First I commit my soul to the Almighty and ever blessed God who gave it
and my body to the earth to decent Christian burial.
Item:  I leave and bequeath to my son William Shimmin the sum of three
pounds.
Item:   I leave and bequeath to my son John Shimmin the sum of three pounds.
Item:  I leave and bequeath to my daughter Jane Shimmin the sum of
three pounds.
Item:  I leave and bequeath to my daughter Elinor Shimmin the sum of three
pounds.
Item I leave and bequeath unto my said sons William and John Shimmin
all my wearing apparel.
Lastly I nominate and constitute and appoint my beloved wife Elinor Shimmin
als Gick sole and whole executrix of all the rest of my goods
and effects moveable and immoveable of what kind or nature soever they be
this 16th Oct 1778.

At a Chapter Court holden at St Mark's Chapel Nov 13th 1780. The executrix
is sworn with pledges William Gick of Santan and Wm Kinley
one of the witnesses.

At Douglas 22d Nov 1783
We Wm Shimin, John Shimin, and Ellinor Shimin legatees in the before written
will named do hereby acknowledged to have rec'd from Elinor Shimmin the
executrix of the said will all and singular the several and respective
legacies bequeathed unto us thereby as also proportion of the legacy given
unto our sister Jane deceased and we the said Wm, John, and Ellinor Shimin
do hereby severally and respectively exonerate acquit and discharge the said
executrix and her exors admors and assigns of and from the several
respective legacies aforesd.

At Douglas 29 Nov 1783.
The above named Ellr the daughter of the testator having been married at the
time of writing the above discharge therefore I John Cottier her husband do
hereby ratify and confirm the above discharge so far as concerns myself and
said wife.  As witness my mark to my name this day month and year before
