To the Revd John Moore and the Revd Ewan Christian
Vicars General of this Isle etc
The humble petition of Wm Corlet late of the parish
of KK Christ Lezayre but now of the Town of Ramsey
being one of the Principal Creditors of John Kinread jnr
of Bauley in the sd parish of Lezayre late decd for
himself and in the behalf of the rest of the Creditors
of the sd John Kinread decd
Sheweth That the sd John Kinread borrowed and received
the just sum of twelve pounds and five shillings currency
of this Isle from your Petr for which he deposed his
obligation for the payment hereof with interest as
by a written bond bearing date 26th of Decr 1783
may appear. And he the sd John Kinread having
lately died (being deeply involved in debts as reported)
and as his next of Kin neglected to produce either a
will or take an administration of the decad'd effects
at the last Court, whereby it is greatly suspected
that they delay the time untill the goods and effects
are embezilled, squandered and made away and thereby
cheat and defraud all just creditors and deprive them
of their just right.
Your petr therefore for himself and in the behalf
of the rest of the Creditiors of the sd John Kinreead
most humbly prays your Revcs to take the
matter and cause to your most judicious consider=
=ation and to be graciously pleased to grant a
speedy hearing hereof before your Revd Court, with
authority to chrge the next of Kin to the deced
who ought to be guardians of his minor children
all of them to appear and attend at the same time
fully prepared either to give in a will or to
take the Administration of the decds effectg
under the restrictions and injunctions prescribed
by law in all cases of the like nature, And in case
they refuse to do either, that then a Decree of
the Administration of the decd goods and effects
may be forthwith granted by your Revd Court
to your petr and some of the rest of the chief
creditors whereby every one may have justice accod=
=ing to law. Any your petr shall pray etc.
Ordered that the matter of this petition come on to be
heeard at a Consistrory court ot be holden at KK Michael
on Friday the 29 of July next. Wheeof all roper parties
& all the next of kin to have due notice & service, Given
at KK Arbory this 27th of June 1785. Joh: Moore

At a Consistory Court holden at KK
Michael on the 29th day of July 1785
John Kinread of the parish of Lezayre having
departed this life in or about the month of
May last past Intestate and this Court having
received Intelligence thereof hath Decreed
his two children, namely, John and Thomas
Kinread joint Administrators of all his
goods chattles and effects movable and
immovable of what kind or nature soever
who being underage, their mother Jane
Kinread is sworn well and truly to administer
the goods chattels and effects of the Intestate
in trust for the sd children, as also to be their
guardian and supervisor, to pay all the
just debts of the Intestate so far as the said
effectw will extend and the law shall bind
her, and to return a true and perfect inventory
of the sd good & effects to the Registry of this
Court. To these ends she hath given pledges
in form of law, namely, John Kinread &
Daniel Corlett grand fathers of said children
both of Lezayre who are also sworn guardians
with the mother.
